Darksoft custom CD - Battery needed?

Hi,
I soldered the battery and flash out of the original cart with custom SH2. Instead of the battery I soldered in a 1/2AA battery holder.
Flash is flashed with Darksoft custom-CD version and will be soldered in next.
Question: Does it need the battery in the cart or does the Darksoft BIOS run without battery?

No battery needed. Solder that flash back in & enjoy.
