Hi, I have recently resurrected 2 dimms with the replacement of the buffer below IC36 and the upgrade to 4.02. The problem is that those dimms have one broken ram slot.

In the Naomi test, the motherboards says "BAD" using working modules. Can anyone tell me how could I repair the socket?

Lots of options here, but if your really sure the damage is isolated to just the socket (no trace or PCB delamination/layer damage)...
Best would be to find a old Intel P5-based Pentium PC motherboard (used PC100 DIMMs) and desolder the replacement socket from that.

Does it report BAD on both RAM modules or just on one?
Maybe the jumpers are set incorrectly and the system expects a ram module in every slot.
If it only has one, it will report BAD for the other slot.

it says "bad" on one slot if it have 2 rams connected. I'm waiting for 2x256mb modules to try them in the only working socket for the 2 dimms and see if the compact flash loading works.

Hi again. In these broken dimms, I have noticed something.

If I test both with 2 rams, the test runs correctly and tells me that one ramm socket is bad.
If I test both with 1 ram, the test ends in a flash and tells me OK to all.

Maybe are the IC ram chips the guilty ones?

Do you always test with the same sdram modules? Are you sure the jumpers are set correctly for the size of ram you are installing?

Most units come with 512MB as one sdram module. Some have 1GB being 2 modules.
I have no idea if other combinations like 2 256MB modules are supported.

If you exchange the 2 modules from slot, does the behavour stays identical?

Does the dimms have to be touched from the jumpers for rams size? I have tested with a lot of ram modules, even 2x256MB and 2x128MB.

Using only one dimm on the "correct" socket makes the test go dizzy and say OK to all in 2 seconds. If connecting only one to the "bad" socket, automatically says BAD to all (not the ICs, they are ok).

You are right, my mistake. It's only on a chihiro (and maybe triforce) type 3 that you need to set jumpers coorectly for the amount of mounted sdram modules.
The dimm ram test on that module takes a very long time to complete. Maybe naomi is using a different test.
I am still confused, if you have one dimm in the correct socket and the test says ok, does it still doesn't work as expected?

The problem is that with one dimm in the correct socket, the test ends in 2 seconds and says OK to all. That's the problem.

In addition. On loading games with one ram or 2 rams, it keeps in loop the loading screen with no ending.
