Just though I would say hi, new here Bla, Bla, Thinking to build a arcade machine Bla, Bla, Let's do this! Bla,

I should have started with “Welcome!” So, welcome!

Sorry you didn’t like the hammer joke. Want to be amused? When you’re done with your cab, toss in a darksoft cps2 multi!

I should point out if you need help building a woody cab from scratch I think arcadecontrols has a lot of great content, so check that forum out too. Most stuff around here is discussion about candy cabs, original pcbs, multi games that use original hardware. If you post a build thread in the projects section here, you will certainly get feedback and conversation too though.

The only place I really see “check out my new DIY arcade” posts is Reddit, granted I don’t get around that much. I see Bartop builds, sometimes full builds. Sometimes people outfitting a chewlix. Most are mame or pi inside.

here’s a masterful DIY… full repro capcom cute made from metal!!! https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/pre-order-for-mini-cute-production.11229/

wired for jamma. Supremely epic.

But everyone has to start somewhere. I built some fight sticks out of wood, then bought a supergun. it was my gateway drug. Just have fun with it

I wish it was fun anymore, this current project inparticular has been nothing but a insane amount of work, and has had surprisingly little love even in concept.

Well if you’re building it for the internet points, I can’t help you there. Just build for yourself.

Otherwise i can say my first arcade stick sucked ass, but my 2nd one was decent! The sixth one was finally worth keeping. 100 projects later I restored an egret2 and it’s amazing. Been a fun adventure. But yeah the first project was a disaster so don’t let it get you down.

Internet points ha that's funny...No just a bad day of it, the press for the square holes (carriage bolts) has been on backorder for like 5 months, finally got a different one but find it needs considerable modifications just to be used effectively with the broach, re engineering that stupid thing just kinda sucks, but like you say all part of the big picture...But again, not fun.

We were talking about modding a shop press as I remember...Air over hydraulic and nasty,

To the rest of the world, I do NOT recommend doing that...It was a ugly project and broke a finger building that table.
