Doom ported to Naomi

DragonMinded has just released an alpha build of shareware Doom running on Naomi. Can be run with Demul or netbooting.

For all nobody that was trying the alpha, the port is considered "finished" and has a ton more options, proper stereo sound, control remapping, save/load game support, runs butter smooth and has a shareware WAD precompiled to try with netboot setups. Yeah, I have Doom ultimate on my cabinet downstairs. I haven't provided a way to swap out the WAD in a compiled binary so you'd have to compile it yourself for now.

This was requested a few times, so I've put up a WAD injector on the Doom for Naomi homepage! If you own the game, head to https://dragonminded.com/naomidev/doom/ and upload your WAD to get a ready-to-play netboot ROM that you can load up on your cabinet.

I dont think anyone I knew used a mouse to play doom 1/2
There was no looking up/down in them IIRC

I remember some people sticking to keyboard only in Quake as well at first lol (where mouse was obv better)

Never did use a mouse.

Fun fact: this game is why i use computers and work in IT for 25 years now…

doom 2 works perfect indeed.

Heretic.wad doesn't work though W_init can't find file error or something like that. should It? I don't think so actually ... it's a different dll in "doomsday" so ok that's normal!

ps: for the guys wanting to try it out: I uploaded my doom2.wad, 7zip it in Gzip and simply overwrote the doom "shareware" gzip in the wipi roms folder and then ran that

Just gave this a go with the ultimate doom wad and doom 2 wad. I used a NAOMI2 in case others had not tried that, and both WADs work fine.

Thank you for this excellent work, the game is amazingly playable.
