Not looking for an official one, I already have an old one and a NOS one. Both behave pretty much identical. For example if I had a cart in my neo geo it would be 5.17 volts, no cart 5.25. It never used to be like that and would always be towards 5.05ish. I pretty much checked the voltage like clockwork anytime I booted a game up.

Looking for a plug and play solution to use a high quality PSU (kinda like FrancoBs adapters or w/e). A meanwell PSU like the one often recommended for HAS would be awesome. Adjusting the voltage pot on both doesn't change the minimum amount of volts on MVS/PGM. On CPS1/CPS2 it does since at lowest it is at 4.72. Never liked the voltage pot on them since they are pretty flimsy.

Never used to be like this on my old psu, but one day it decided to up the voltage on pgm to 5.25-35 probably killing my gladiator cart. Popped in my NOS and the voltages seems fine, but the minimum voltage load is still the same as the old. I used to be able to get 5.0 on PGM.

In any case I can recap them, but I rather have a nice quality psu that dip as much as this and has a better voltage adjustment. The voltage pot on these E2 official psus are pretty cheap.

you still making adapters for high quality psus @Hatsune Mike ? I remember you stating last year you might.

end of wall of text.

I just have my little handmade one. However, I was able to repair my factory PSU, which is the older fully caged type. Unlike that NOS one, mine has no trouble maintaining a reasonable middle voltage, so I’ve put it into use.

Ah I see. Both mine are the uncased ones. You ever think of whipping up some custom cables to put in a more robust PSU?

Would just like a nice one that doesn't dip. Atm not really going to play anything due to this except CPS2.

EDIT:I have been reading my AC voltage and its usually 119. But nowadays its been 123-124. I notice the lower the AC, the lower the voltage on the switching psu 5V. Weird.

Definitely going to grab a 120-100 step down.

I have enough spare parts left over to make an Egret II power harness adapter. I whip one up for you and shoot it to you. It will be just like this. Just pay for shipping/handling (probably $5).

FYI, I use a Peter Chou PSU in my Egret II. Works like a champ.

EDIT: Let me get home this weekend to check if those parts are still there. Should be. I just haven't laid eyes on them since like March. PM me then.

Yeah, it will work with the Meanwell PSU. The Meanwell has a similar form factor and screw terminals, so should be near a drop in replacement for the Taito. The hold down fastening hole spacing on the Meanwell might be slightly different than the Taito. No biggie however. Just make a new hole as needed on the board.

The Peter Chou I use is salvaged from scrapped US woodies that I have laying around. Works great and was free.

Ah, that's basically what I wanted to make - in that case, it's already taken care of. That's a very neat solution.

Is that PSU good? I've heard some bad things about certain happ psus. Mainly artifact switching noise on superguns on shmups thread about superguns.

Mean while Mean well has been tested extensively and is cheaper. Still waiting to here back from them about a shipping quote since they do it sneakernet way and do it manually. EDIT: total for it would be $53.50

It does look neater but I rather have a verified psu that is good unless someone can vouch for it. It looks to be a Happ Power Pro.

I just wired a Happ Power Pro up the other day, and it works fine with the minigun. I didn't see any issues during my admittedly limited play time. I have an extra if you want it, Happ wouldn't just send me one of them due to the cost being too low.

Thanks for the offer but I'll pass. My one friend said stay far away from suzo happ lol, their quality has gone down tremendously.

I’ll second that motion again. I have had a Suzo Happ Power Pro 200w for a long ass time hooked up to my Sentinel with shitload of play, never once an issue at all.

Don’t believe the Hype.

Alright got the power supply installed in my Egret 2.

Broke one of the plastic connectors on the adapter, but all is good.

But I notice more noise/shimmering vs my old/nos linear egret 2 psu. Kinda like a wavyness. Any way to fix it?

The piece of plastic on the PSU adapter that acblunden2 made, not the actual psu connectors on E2. Below is how I have it wired up.

As I thought but the Egret 2 PSU doesn't use it though.I like this PSU way better than the old if I can fix this problem.

1.) For one the voltage pot doesn't feel like it will break by constantly adjusting.

2.) Additionally since it is a switch psu vs a linear PSU(TAITO M1300010B) it won't fluctuate based on AC input voltage. The NOS/old one varies quite a bit vs load and no load due to it being a linear/unregulated psu.

3.)better safety features and more energy efficient.

Where would I attach this Field Ground wire to?

I assume one end to field ground on the psu, but what about the other side?
