Experimental - 3D printed shell for S18 Multi (BladeZX Arduino)

This is my first draft of a 3D printed shell for the awesome S18 Multi that @BladeZX has released over here

There are two versions of the S18 multi - an Arduino based version and a Raspberry PiZero version - this is for the Arduino version

Important note, this version of the case is not finished, may not fit, and has many mesh/skin errors, if you want to use it as the foundation for your own case feel free - but it's not yet a finished printable product

This one should be better. Still some model errors but all the bits fit, holes line up and etc - STL attached

I had to make the button holes a bit bigger so that my fat fingers could actually push the buttons - might see if I can find a part with a longer actuator.

Designed to bolt together with
4 x M3 20mm Hexagon socket head bolts, thread needs to be 20mm

25mm bolts might actually be a better choice, but I didn't have any of those...

Success! I was hoping to have these print without supports, but because of the big overhang at the front I couldn't get that to work.

The shell is in two parts, the top half of the device fits into the top half of the shell, the bottom part fits into the bottom half.

Supports are kind of a pain with this design because by default they plug up the holes for the bolts and nuts. Luckily Cura to the rescue - when you generate supports you can set the minimum surface area that it will generate supports for - to avoid plugging up the bolt holes set it to 20mm or something larger.


So I'm going to call this "good" for now. Any requests for changes and etc please let me know

NICE!

Some questions/suggestions, and please don't exert yourself with any of this. It's good the way it is.

1. Is it possible to fill out the area of the underhang where there isn't a cable?
2. Also where the 4 screw points are, is it possible to fill out that whole area so the selector ends up as a solid cube/rectangle brick when fully assembled?

#1 easy, done!


#2 not so easy - need to re-arrange the PCB to move some of the elements around, drill some holes and generally adjust "stuff" in order for that to happen. I might ask BladeZX about a rev 1.2 at some stage
