Hi All,

I have a King of Dragons Pcb that boots to the title screen if you press the credit button you get the P1 and P2 on the screen. It Plays music but no game sounds. it goes blank after the second picture. I have followed the Arcade Hacker guide and replaced the "C" Board Battery, it was completely flat. I'm not sure if I have programmed the "C" board properly or if i'm chasing another fault. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

you wont get anything on screen if the c board is not working properly. Have you tried a known good A board?
That’s not always true. On Knights of the Round you get a heavily corrupted green game if the battery is almost flat or the keys haven’t loaded properly.

I don’t think that’s the case here. All of your issues (missing sprites, missing sounds, resets) point to either a bad A custom, bad C custom, bad mask ROMs or a combination of all of the above.

You need a known good A and C so you can confirm these are good before any further troubleshooting

it could also be the connections between the boards.
i had a cps1 with gfx corruption that fixed itself when you flex the boards near the connectors.
soldering all the connectors fixed it.

Hey @stj I have a CPS1 that is doing the same thing. After doing some work on the cab, the board has the screen filled with "$". If I push down on the a-board near the jamma harness it fixes itself so I know i have a loose joint somewhere. Can you describe which connections fixed it?

it was the contacts to the small board with the gfx chip on it.
but yours may not be.
