Hi all,

Does any one have a part number for the Triforce GameCube Memory Card Reader - or better yet an actual unit for sale? I'm trying to track one down to use with F-Zero AX.

Thanks!

It uses both.

The magnetic cards are for times, etc & the cube memory card is used for custom ships iirc.

I believe from previous discussions on this forum you have to have a Triforce with a memory card port for the adapter to plug into. IIRC the port resembles a DB9 serial port but it may have a different pin count. None of my three Triforce mobos have this.

However, you might be able to get around this and install the memory card right in the GameCube memory slot. It would not be at all convenient, especially if you're expected to remove it.

Barring that, you could maybe do a passive DIY adapter wiring pin for pin to the GC memory card slot.

From what I gathered from prior discussions, there's not much to be gained from having the memory card functionality unless you're planning to play on a GC as well.

I didn't do much with it, but I did put together a card reader script for F-Zero for the magnetic card. The card saved my character and ship/upgrades. It might be worth researching more what the GC memory card does, or see if you can get a first hand account from someone in the know.

I've have the GC MC reader itself, but no TF motherboard with the good plug. We must find someone how own the cabinet, toi open the motherboard and take some pictures.

I just got a brand new latest version Triforce type 3 - Do you have a grab of the port I should be looking for, or any more info?

It has a DB9 serial port to the right of LAN PORT A, above the white power connectors.

Exactly like this pic, expect mine says EXPORT instead of Rev A on the silver sticker with SEGA logo.

I have an AX machine. I can take some photos of everything if they're needed. However, I'm pretty sure it's all been documented before, because I've seen pics in some thread.

The memory card can be used to use your GX ship in AX and also to unlock some things in GX (which can be also unlocked just by playing).

@nem : Use of GC MC in FZAX is documented, but I've never seen the inside of a FZAX T3 motherboard. Perhaps I've missed that.

@aj2k : This motherboard has a special port (not the db9, on every T3). But the picture you show has no GD-ROM drive SCSI plug, but has a port (small on the left the side you have key, over JVS plug). I guess it's a Mario Kart NAND motherboard. Could you make some inside pictures, too ?

Yes, please, top cover off. Perhaps several pictures, showing the plug and where it goes on the motherboard. Thank you!
