Has anyone used a Mini-SLG with a Sega Naomi or other Sega motherboard (VGA) and an LCD monitor?

Does anyone have any experience with the Mini-SLG and use with a VGA output on a LCD monitor? Does it create a "CRT" like picture on an LCD monitor? Anyone have a good experience with it?
Thanks.

Not yet, but I'll be interested in the final result :)
Post pictures of it if you try

I have a couple of Mini-SLGs and I did throw up up Naomi with Capcom vs SNK and on it and toyed around it with for a little bit on a 15 inch consumer LCD. I also threw one my DC generic VGA unit (before I got a Kuro) to test out and on my Xbox 360 for a quick CAVE fix.

I thought it looked pretty good at 640x480 setting as I was plotting to eventually stick it into a LCD styled bartop unit. At the higher resolution the scanlines seemed to thin to me.

It looked solid enough and decently close to XRGB-mini look (to my eyes). Playing seemed fine to me but I am not a pro and I only really notice lag on music rhythm games.

That said, a CRT is better but them beasts are a dying breed (my CRT chase has often ended in bitter sadness). We need to have solid LCD solutions and this one is decent and affordable - and the latter point is very important.

If I can get to one my Naomi and set up a quick test I will try to take some photos but I can't promise anything because my arcade space is a freaking mess with parts everywhere and no space.

If you want to see how a mini-SLG looks an Dreamcast/VGA/LCD - I can throw up some images soon.

Thanks for the response - greatly appreciated!

Glad to hear of the decent results with the mini-SLG. It is very affordable and if it can be used to create a "good" pictures with an LCD monitor it will make life easier. I agree - I have dealt with CRTs for some time and it is often a battle in frustration and seems to never end (burn-in, maintenance issues, etc.). I truly wish the 4:3 27" LCD monitor would come to fruition as the answer to most of these issues as well.

If you can post some pictures; I would appreciate it. Glad to hear of the solid results with 640x480 as that was how I would look to run it as well.

Hey,

I just grabbed these quickly with my phone sorry I couldn't get better quality. I may try again later with better photos if I get time.

It was hard to get exactly the same shot while fiddling with the mini-SLG switch. I can honestly say the effect is better when playing and viewing in motion.

The monitor is a plain LCD IBM monitor. The VGA box is one of the basic aftermarket ones. I had the mini-SLG sitting inline.

Yeah, The mini-SLG has only two supported resolutions - 640 x 480 (the scanlines look the best here) or 1024 x 768 (fainter). Maybe I will try taking some shots of the Xbox 360 running at those two resolutions with the mini-SLG.
