Hi guys, I really want to have my House of the Dead cabinet working, I've been able to fix the game PCB thinking the monitor wouldn't be that hard, but it is giving me a bunch of issues, I've been able to overcome most, but now I've become stuck. It's a Ducksan CGM-3307E 33', NAP M78JUA069X tube, Korean House of the Dead 1 cabinet. It began like this:

  • First power on "as is" (I know, questionable procedure), monitor began to turn on and a capacitor in the psu blew up releasing pressure. shut it down. Replaced cap
    • Measured ESR of all caps, some were out of spec, replaced those.
  • Second power on, displayed image but very faint, only green color.
    • Found in the neck board many badly rusted resistors, some were even open, replaced them.
  • Next power on it was working quite nicely! until 15mins later a resistor blew and blue color died (I mean the screen became almost all blue), neckboard related components (2SA910 PNP, 2SC2310 NPN and 1N4148 diode) died so idk which died first and destroyed the others.
    • Couldn't get exact replacements so I used 2SA1370 PNP (larger wattage) and 2SC2230 NPN (arcadepartsandrepair says it should work). Also replaced the rest of the neck board resistors just in case.
  • Next power on it was fine back again, maybe no that bright but fine, until after 30 minutes or whatever the green color died!! (green screen) yet again a related 1/4w resistor blew up, and it was a new resistor!, green PNP, NPN and diode failed, same situation as blue.
    • Just like blue, had to replace them with 2S1370 and 2SC2230, but this time just as a preventive measure also replaced all 3 C945 transistors (not a single one failed but just in case)
    • And from the red color (the remaining never-broken color):
      • its 1N4148 diode
      • and 2SC2310 NPN just in case. Couldn't replace it's 2SA910 PNP because ran out of replacements.
  • Next power on, colors suck. Nothing broke anymore, but colors are kind of shadows only, like only the bleed can be seen, not colors themselves, fiddled with pots (gain, cutoff, brightness and screen) in all possible ways, no improvement. It looks like only the mid-brightness part of a color can be seen, and it's full brightness becomes invisible, kind of an inverted brightness feel, difficult to explain.
  • Also tried replacing back the 3 C945, and red color diode and transistors that I had replaced without need, nothing changed, maybe a minor bright difference.

I'm at a loss here, what could be it? could be the flyback gone bad? loose "screen" g2 wire? not even sure what to measure. Also I've got capacitors for a full replacement, didn't do it yet, don't want possibly introduce new issues.

Additional notes:
  • Tried the tube with a Wei-Ya 29' chassis, colors were spot on (geometry was very wrong), so the tube is fine
  • Measured B+, it's at 122v, can't increase it much, just bring it down to 110v if needed, not sure what's correct
  • Colors look the same when testing from a TPG, so the game board is fine
Seems I don't have a picture from the neck board, will attach soon, it doesn't have any IC, just transistors. The first is from when it worked, then the current issue, then the chassis with and without its PSU module.
Thanks!
