So a little while ago I managed to break a Philips M41 minineck tube. This is what comes stock in a JVC TM-1700PN, or in my case a Victor TM-1700 (JP.)
Anyways I didn't pay much for it, but finding a replacement tube is difficult in Canada, where 17" CRT's don't grace our landscape like in the UK or Japan. Instead, we have PC CRTs at 17" only, which are 99.7% 31Khz and higher, making adapting to this chassis very difficult.
So I'm looking for ideas. But first, I don't want a downgraded Consumer monitor. I will only settle for an M41 (low dot pitch) tube.. it just isn't worth it to me to find a consumer grade tube. (I know I'm snobby)
Idea List Start Point
1. Import a Philips LTC2917 CCTV. According to Console Modes, they are one and the same: https://consolemods.org/wiki/CRT:TM-1700PN
2. The socket is shared with a lot of arcade monitors (B10-277) such as K7000 and many more. A compatible but higher grade tube would be desirable. Any 17" Sanwa tubes out there? Maybe a fit.
3. Solder a CR23 socket on to the neckboard and just adapt the pinout. Though this sounds easy, I'm STILL having trouble finding a yoke with the right impedances. Since it's a minineck tube, going to a regular neck means I can't swap the yoke over.
4. Impedances seem to be roughly 3,6 RH and 12,2 RV. Anybody know a similar 17" M41? Or even have one?
5. Last thing I could do is get a universal chassis, and buy a whole NOS tube and screw the chassis.
6. Does anyone want to buy a TM-1700 chassis?
