Hi Folks!

Well - I finally got both my Naomi 2's setup with @chunksin excellent wipi package and have OpenJVS, CardEmulator and game loader all setup. I have my 2 Naomi's all setup as well, running to different monitors. The fiber cables are connected properly (crossed over) and I have the network shim cartridges. I go into the test menu for each. I sent one (under game assignments) to Car #1, and the other to Car #2.

I reboot both systems, and they boot and go to a screen that says "Checking Network Now"... this is on for about 5 seconds, and then goes away on both systems - and then just a black screen.

Anyone who has done this - any ideas what could be wrong?

Matt

must do the same with these:

Quite Strange - I can't find the screen referenced on page 47. Here are the two screens that I see - System Assignments in the Naomi2 menu, and Game Settings in the InitialD3 test mode submenu.

Away from my toys, well sold them a while ago

System Menu...Network Setting...Network Type (What are the options...should not be ether).

The game should be loaded into memory, so adjusting the network should not effect it loading after menu changes.

I had mine running off the gd-roms, and always wondered about the "ether" setting

So - there are 3 settings.

Ether (used for netbooting - uses the ethernet port on the netdimm)
Mobile (you can set an ip address, but no netmask, gateway, etc.)
None

(there is also a ether+mobile, defaulting either to ether or mobile).

I tried the mobile - and set the ip address to 10.0.0.2 on one, and 10.0.0.3 on the other - it exhibited the same behaviour.

I am wondering if maybe Head to Head maybe doesn't work with the NetDimm - would need the actual carts? - although your setup was with the netdimm since you loaded it off a GDROM.

Did some more searching, and it seems like you shouldn't have to mess with the network settings at all - you just set the seat assignment, hook up the optical cables and off you go.

I am pretty sure that it's all working properly - as both screens lose the "checking network now" at the same time - so I think the start of the comms happens.

I am going to try a japanese region and see if thats any better.
