Hi, again, I’m a total noob. How can I go about installing on a phoenixed b board? It’s a revision 7.

Assuming you have a new multi, just follow the current install guide. Since your b board is phoenixed you just don’t need to remove the battery, it’s already gone.

test the b board before starting anything though, to make sure it’s working. Some sellers say “phoenixed” when they mean “broken”

instructions are in many places including where you probably bought it but here’s one link https://www.arcade-projects.com/thr...ons-and-tips-new-version-after-10-2020.15470/

Actually it’s not infinikeyed, it’s “Avalaunched” whatever that is.

Avalaunched is using Team Avalaunch roms https://cps2.avalaunch.net/
Similar to phoenix roms in that they're decrypted, so no need for decryption keys+battery.
Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine!

(infinikey means someone removed a battery and installed a separate pcb to deliver the keys... and that pcb would have to be removed like a battery would be)

Thanks. It was pretty straightforward once I got over the fear of prying out the eeproms.

Also, CN93 only installs one way right? That was my one major concern.

How screwed am I? I get the LCD to flash, but when it does I get this.

SD card and roms are good got those from site.

I reseated every single pin and it went from slowly rotating jail bars to straight orange. I’m still concerned about the CN93 wire if I put that on right. The LCD says it’s now playing Xvsf, and the B board was a functioning board prior to removing the EEPROMs so I’m thinking it’s the key writing.

I’m using the champion edition of the darksoft, just got it 2 days ago.

The instructions weren’t terribly clear. If you have a revision 7 board and champion Ed is there anything you have to solder?

Checked all connections, all seem on point. No bent wires or anything odd.

Went from the weird pattern on the preloaded XVSF loaded 1944 it went orange for a moment to plain white after I verified that all boards were seated properly and booted it up again.

I can’t tell if you put it on the right way but flipping it around is fine. See the colors on this photo to line up the direction.

Look in that troubleshooting thread for the kinds of photos people send in. Sideways view so we can see how the boards are seated. Overhead so we can see the whole install. There should be no soldering for your board so I’m guessing it’s just loose something or your sd being formatted improperly (fat32) or with a Mac. You can also remove the keywires entirely and try a romhack like progear halfway to hell (it uses no keys)

Sorry, weird day. I’ve verified the seating on virtually every single pin.

Here’s the current setup, still generating an orange screen.

Got a top-down? The interconnect board looks like it can seat farther in, but it’s also worth making sure it’s on the right direction

It’s on right I believe, pic provided to confirm. I’ve been worried about the interconnect board but I can’t seem to get it together much more due to lack of leverage. I’ll try to reseat it and get it further together. The two boards are a little off center for some reason.

Also thank you again for your help.

Taking it off, one of the pins is very slightly bent, could that be an issue? It’s still seating into the board, I actually think it might have been from the removal of the connector board.

Also, should the 2 pins for each EEPROM on the rom board be sitting on the top row or bottom? It’s hard to tell and looks like it could go either way if I lined it up.

No luck so far. Trying the decrypted rom set and hoping for the best. It’s downloading overnight and I’ll test in morning. IDGAF about key accuracy so NBD if that’s the problem.

Interconnect board looks oriented fine. The pins look fine too, just make sure it’s very snug. It’s a tight fit.

You can try another sd card if you have one. SDHC not SDXC, format fat32, and use a PC not a Mac.

The key writing rom set has some hacks in it I think, progear halfway to hell or some character hacks on some fighting games. If you look at the KEY file in a text editor you will see a bunch of FF FF FF.... those are empty keys. Might look like ÿÿÿÿ... You can try those, or that fully decrypted set (but you still need empty KEY files in the game directories).
