What's new
The taper is wear. The angle actually could be designed into the repro, increasing longevity.

It's been a while, but if I recall, the NOS Gundam restrictor I used as reference had sharp corners and the used Monkeyball had a chamfer. I know I took a measurement, because it was an odd angle. I'll have to refer to old photos I took later.

Got a ‘proto’ here too now

Last pic to show the difference in travel. It is not a huge reduction, but the key difference is I no longer feel the gasket straining/limiting movement on the outer limit.

If @nem is happy with the in game performance then I am 100% satisfied.

On the chamfer question, the Gundum disc pictured has about 50% less than the disc I sent over to @plasticfactory Either my Gundam stick wasn’t an original pair, or one side sees much more wear from gameplay…
The really used stick was also black inside and the gasket was torn, so simple wear seems plausible.

The other Gundam stick was likely replaced at some point.

It's just wear. You can see how it's pitted on yours.

Regreasing every so often is super important. I bet very few ops ever do this.

"Molykote #44 Medium" is what I've always used for grease on joysticks. Any parts that rub up against each other should have it applied.
for home use this stuff lasts YEARS before the need for re-application. Some of the sticks I re-built 10 years ago and applied this on, I've re-built again recently just because they needed cleaning or had switches die, lose screws, etc. the grease was still good and still doing it's job, cleaned it off and reapplied... probably good for another decade.

A lot of people use generic silicone grease, and it works well but I find a lot of them dry out after a while and stop being effective.

the only thing I wouldn't recommend the Molykote on is spinners, those bearings need a different type of grease.

Do I need to keep tabs on this or will you reach out to those of us on the waiting list?

@plasticfactory Thanks for all your work on this. I'm still looking for the 5x but would take 6x if you have extras left over.

How difficult would it be to do a run of yellow bananas compatible with gundam sticks?

"Hard" is relative, as the bananas would be injection molded. Parts would be molded in a yellow material and would require finishing work (I think airbrushing?). I would also need permission to use the existing CAD.

If there is strong interest I'd look at the project, but don't want to step on any toes, either. I know another group was reproducing these at some point.
