So a bit of background, I bought an Irem M84 hammerin’ harry 2 layer board.

The previous owner was trying to convert it to R-type. So When I got it, it had an R-type rom on it. The owner did not know where the original Hammerin’ Harry rom was. So, I erased all the EEPROM and burnt Hammerin’ Harry rom back on it. However, it did not work. Here is what I get in the video. My question is, what am I doing wrong? Here is an image of the top and bottom board and each file I burnt and their locations.

Update: after finding the M84 correct rom I think a member pointed to me that on the CPU. the original board was using a different EEPROM compared to what I had on the board and advice me to double the data if I were keeping my 27C1001 on the board. which I did. so here are the result of my last test. the files needed to be doubled are at location 9b and 8b on the bottom board I believe there are part of the CPU program

1- the game is still not working

2- with the doubled files I get this image

3 with the same files but not doubled

I don't know what to do now. help

There's only 1 guy who can convert these :)

Best to put it back to original and wait for the multi.

That's what he is trying to do. ?( Did you check the rom jumpers? I am guessing some were changed during the failed conversion.

I did not. can you confirm if at least I burnt the correct roms and placed them in the correct position? I'm going to look into the jumpers to see. Thanks

Pictures of the Hammerin' Harry board I own.
Thanks very much, from I can see see I did it correctly. Can you zoom in on the different jumpers for me. Maybe they were changed during the attempt. I also have a wire under the lower board. Now I’m thinking it there normally to repair a trace or is it redirecting a signal has part of the attempted conversion.

After seeing Nem's board I see a problem, he has smaller 28 pin eproms in A-H1 and A-L1 (27C512). Notice how the top 4 pins in the socket aren't used and you're using 32 pin eproms (27C010?). Did you double the data on H1 and L1?

Is there an eta update for this, lots of good Irem games :)

I'll open the next can of meat when the hungry wolves have calmed down :)

OP:
Debug your CPU area first , and make sure nobody has been pissing in the wind trying to replace PLD's or adding wire hacks etc, any of this is useless :)

I’m using a 27C1001. It was the one used for the r-type conversation. I reused them after I erased them. I did not double the data. How do I do that?. Also I’m not sure I got the correct rom because it did not mentioned M84 per say but other irem board that also have hammerin’ happy says the files are the same. So some file in the rom where like M81. Is that a pb if yes anyone can direct me to the proper M84 rom file?

OMG, how do I debug the CPU? I know which 4 eeprom the CPU program is so reburn and retry?

Download the M84 set (hharryu) and double H1 and L1.

In Windows command

copy /b a-h1-f.8b + a-h1-f.8b a-h1-f_doubled.8b

Do the same for L1.
I successfully double L1 and H1. I need to erase and burn everything again. I have the right files now for M84. However, I'm still wondering what is the difference between a-ho-u.8d and a-h0-v.rom
?? they are exactly the same size. I feel like they are the same files because the CPU has 4 files only but I do not understand why I have 8 files in the rom.
