Mario Kart GP 2 missing the card reader option

I was visiting a friend this weekend who has a twin US Mario Kart GP 2 setup to add card readers, both sides are type 3 NAND Triforces one cab is a NAND Triforce and the other a type 3 that is netbooted from a pi, but not necessarily originally from the cabs. One side has the card reader option (type 3) and the other doesn't (NAND), the option is literally not there, there is a gap in the menu where it should be. Has anyone come across this and what we need to do fix it? Flash the game or Triforce or something? The game version of the problem Triforce is attached.

What's the game version of the working one ?

And does the card reader option go away if you disconnect it on the one which works ?

After checking the firmware versions it seems one is a NAND and one is a regular type 3, the NAND version is the one missing the card reader option. I'll ask him to get the software version of the working Triforce.

Ask him to run a mediacheck on the NAND version as well please. That will take a while...
