UPDATE: I've decided to keep this machine for now.
Location: Near Greensboro, North Carolina
Local pickup preferred. If shipping, buyer pays all packing and freight charges.
I’m selling my 1995 Sega ST-V Die Hard arcade machine which has been modified to house an original XBOX for emulation purposes. The control panel has been converted from three to six button plus extra buttons were added on the P1 side for navigating the emulator menus. Everything was kept JAMMA compatible by keeping the extra buttons on a separate kick harness. You can still plug the JAMMA harness back into the original ST-V board play ST-V games just like the day it was made.
With this setup you can play practically every arcade and console game made before year 2000 on authentic arcade controls and monitor. Switching back to the original ST-V board is as easy as swapping a cable. It comes with the Die Hard Arcade cartridge but you can buy other ST-V cartridges (like Virtua Fighter) and easily swap games. You can even use other original, multicade, or bootleg JAMMA compatible arcade boards if you wish. Oh, and the XBOX is connected to a timer board so you could actually charge people to play the emulators if you wanted (but I’ve always had that function disabled).
Here’s a list of what you get:
As with most electronics of this age, there are a few small issues I’ll mention in order to be fully transparent:
That’s it! I think I’ve rambled enough so please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Here’s a list of what you get:
- Modded XBOX with 200GB hard drive and JAMMA adapter
- XBOX is loaded with CoinOps, CoinOps Premium, Coinops Vision, and some other goodies
- Extra buttons on kick harness (still fully JAMMA compatible)
- Original ST-V board and Die Hard Arcade cartridge
- All new buttons, switches, and sticks from X-Arcade
- Wells Gardner U5000 CRT chassis
- Low hour refurbished 25” CGA monitor - Sharp picture and colors
- Thorough documentation of the mods (including pinouts)
As with most electronics of this age, there are a few small issues I’ll mention in order to be fully transparent:
- The audio sometimes gets a little crackly or distorted at high volumes. It’s never been bad enough to bother me and I don’t usually have it cranked so I’ve never looked for a solution. My guess is that the old paper-cone speakers are due for replacement or the volume adjustment pot needs to be replaced. Either way, this should be a small and inexpensive fix.
- The ST-V board has a separate and seemingly unrelated audio issue. The audio is fine when you first start playing but after about 10 to 15 minutes of play it starts to get staticy. After a few more minutes, the static gradually gets worse until the audio completely drops out. If you restart the machine, it’s as good as new for another 10 to 15 minutes. My guess is that one or more of the capacitors in the sound amplifier area of the board need to be replaced since capacitors are the most common cause of issues in electronics of this age. This issue does not occur when playing emulators from the XBOX. Again, this should be a relatively inexpensive repair if you’re handy with a soldering iron.
- It has a few scuffs on the sides. Looks like white paint and will probably come off with a good scrub.
- There are no locks with the exception of the rear panel. You can get cylinder locks cheap if you wish.
That’s it! I think I’ve rambled enough so please feel free to reach out with any questions.
