It's the place for ideas so I propose idea :) (but it seems very hard to realize) :

Do you think it's possible to connect multi-CPS2 to a pcb in order to emulate the cps2-link?
In my idea, you connect your cps2 on the web and with a kind of room (as per Fightcade) it's allow you to connect to an other player cabinet.

here a scheme :

I guess than the "magic connected pcb" can just emulate the original link between two cps2 in game center, so I guess it's only send input and not much information, so the need of data is very low. (excuse me if i'm wrong).

I guess than the idea is absurb don't worry to break my dream 8)

I like the idea, but I'm not a hardware developer so I'm not sure how feasible this would be in both effort and cost to make. It is an awesome idea though.

I'm no expert but it seems "easily" doable.

You can hook up a PC/arduino/rpi to basically send/receive input and act as player 2 on each cab.

The only problem I can foresee is since you don't/can't control the PCB (CPS2 board) you won't be able to adjust the position of P2 if need be (think about rollback/ggpo type netcode), you might be a few frame late/ahead of the other board and might end up seeing a different instance of the game.

I'd be interested in seeing how this pans out. Even for just in-home use.

I would suspect the lag would be too great for an enjoyable experience, and that's IF it would even sync up to start playing.

Remember the original link kit was direct wire, so even with a small amount of data being passed...
The timing window in which the board is expecting to receive said data is very tight.

It may be realistic to create something for in-home use though that supports more than just 4 sets of whichever version of Street Fighter that is.

Did the original link kit work on D&D? I've seen pics years ago of 4 Mini Cutes in a cube running D&D.

Far as I'm aware the only game to ever be supported by the linking board was Super Street Fighter 2 Tournament Battle.

What you saw with D&D is similar to the way my friend Bill plays 4-player boards on two candy cabs...
He splits the video/audio output of one board between two cabs, and then feeds the slave cab controls for players 3/4 back into the master cab via harness.

You end up with players 1/2 on candy cab #1, and players 3/4 on candy cab #2.
Its all done with one game board.

My solution for playing 4-player boards on candy cabs? Flash the 2-Player world revision ROMs, or dip/service menu option it into 2-player.

The Simpsons - Flashed
TMNT - Flashed
Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder - Service Menu
Spider-man - Service Menu

I had a feeling that's what it was, but I wanted to know for sure :).
