Hello everyone!
This is my first project post, and with the encouragement of FrancoB, I decided to stop lurking and start sharing some of the projects I've been working on.

About a month ago, I managed to get my hands on my first CAVE PCB: Mushihimesama Futari, along with a single-player CPO for my NAC cabinet. Naturally, I immediately knew I wanted to create a Mushi-inspired CPO. As luck would have it, I have some very talented friends when it comes to working with images.

I reached out to my friend Doug Blake and we traded skills—he helped me with the design in exchange for some 3D-printed models for his tabletop games. The result of our collaboration is what you see in the images.

For the stick, I modified a Seimitsu LS-32 to fit a blued titanium Sanwa stick rod. I did this by designing and 3D-printing a sleeve to match the diameter of the rod with the stock Seimitsu one. Additionally, I shortened the stock actuator to properly fit the new rod, allowing for fine-tuning with small shims.

For the CPO screws, I wanted the same blued titanium look as the rod, so I used blued titanium bike disc brake screws. When it came to selecting the buttons, I went with metallic Sanwa buttons in a color scheme that complemented the CPO design. This theme continued with a clear rod sleeve and a custom 3D-printed dust washer to match the ball top.

I hope you all enjoyed this little rant, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the project!

Any chance you can get more of the overlays printed?

Did they have a top layer protection over the printed art?

So many happy and excited questions, cause this looks amazing!

Fantastic stuff!! Bizarrely, I think I’m most excited about the dust washer!

This is some gloriously executed stuff.

If this is what happens when you “stop lurking”, then I’m looking forward to more of the same!

nice, where did you get the overlay printed?
Hi,

I initially tried FedEx Kinkos, but they weren't able to do it. They suggested a local sign company, and they were able to handle it for me. The sign company requested a few changes to the original image—my friend had added lines for the edges and buttons to indicate where cuts should be made, but they asked for those to be removed and suggested adding an extra 0.2mm to the perimeter instead. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask—I'm happy to help! 😊

Hi,

I’m really passionate about tinkering and 3D printing! Some of the filaments I’ve used have amazing colors that work perfectly for arcade restoration projects. My next plan is to print some multicolored dust washers with custom designs or small logos on them. If there’s anything specific you’d like to see on the dust washers, feel free to let me know!🤓

Hi,

I was really hoping to get the overlay printed using PET or polycarbonate, which are materials commonly used for POS terminals and panels in machinery. These materials have a nice texture, and I believe they might be what’s used on OEM CPOs (if anyone can confirm this, I’d appreciate it).

I'm looking for a clear vinyl with the same texture as the original CPO to go on top, but the vinyl the sign company used is actually designed for outdoor durability—similar to what’s used for vehicle wrapping. I requested their matte finish so my OCD wouldn’t drive me crazy! 🤪
