I am beginning my first restore of a NAC and I am missing the PCB board mount thingy. I didn't see anything in the manual for the specific dimensions of this thing so is it just a simple piece of plywood? If someone has the dimensions maybe it is easier to just make one.

Otherwise, please hit me up if you happen to have a spare. Thanks!

I made 12 boards for my Astros a while back, and I used the measurements from this old post on AO:

Thickness = 12mm
Width/Height = 387mm
Length = 497mm

The large (finger) hole is 20mm diameter. Its centre's 35mm from the front edge of the board and equidistant from the top and bottom edges of the board at 193.5mm.

The smaller hole for securing the board to the board holder in the cab is 6mm diameter. Its centre's 10mm from the front edge and again equidistant from the top and bottom edges of the board at 193.5mm.

I used 12mm thick plywood as suggested. Fits perfectly in my NACs.

So just to be clear, 3/8 thick for Astros

And 1/2" thick for Blasts? I'm going to tackle this, this weekend and want to make sure.

Anyone able to verify this? Before I get sheets cut down to 15 3/4" x 19"??

The 1/2" is a little snug in the Blast, but it's been fine. The original board from Japan is just as snug, though it may be 12mm (0.47"). A little smaller probably wouldn't hurt, but I don't know about 3/8" in a Blast.

I just measured the piece that came in my Blast with a digital caliper, it was 12.25mm thick. They give me 12.27mm on the 1/2" board I got. But if someone else could confirm for kidkaos, please do :)

I appreciate the follow up.

I ended up with 12 cuts of the PCB board from the sheet I had to buy at Lowe's. Not too shabby for like 30 bucks! I noticed there is a little hang to the left on the wood board but it looks like it has more than enough grip to hold with a game also attached. Thanks for the advice, guys!

While we're bull crapping here , so I understand, for locks I need to source custom sega key (5380?) and locks. For the control panel, I am not sure what I need to lock in the panel. I see some part numbers in the manual but can someone clarify what exactly I need to source to secure the control panel down?

thx again

There’s three different tangs to match the locks. One type used for the PCB door and coin mech door (middle pair). Another used for the coin box door (far right). And a pair used for the control panel (left).

Originally the cabs had individual and uniquely keyed Miwa locks for the coin box, but these days for home use most people just use a 5380 or 5575 for everything.

Here’s the part numbers:
NCA-1017 (Coin Box Tang)
DP-1167 (PCB / Coin Mech Tang)
CQN-1311 (Control Panel Tang)

Are you sure about that? I have some sega locks that are similar to 5380 and 5575 but are different keys. I thought they were coin box locks for specific arcades? I thought if you were big enough you could register with sega back in the day for coin box keyed alike locks with sega logos on the keys? I also have a 5380 style key that is Capcom branded?

I'm curious about this too.

My Blast had two locks in it when I got it and they were A001.

I am also about to make some more PCB mounting boards so thanks for the info @Kidkaos and @tDRG.

Unsure. I have just seen Miwa branded locks a lot on Astro cab coin doors. Someone like @nem would have more info.

I think Miwa were stock on Astros for coin box doors. Sega had unique dimple locks and keys (like 5575), but those came later (Blast City and later). Astros should have magnetic locks and keys, and I've only ever seen unique ones from Miwa.

A001 is Lindbergh era.

Thanks for clearing that up @nem - exactly how I remembered it too, but sometimes I second guess my memory banks.
