Naomi and PSU. Recommendations and issues

Also, Naomi+Cart can be driven from Capcom IO.
Naomi+Netdimm can not

... so please make it as power hungry as a cart...

for longevity reasons I really suggest you use a separate power supply anyway. Naomi's are total power supply killers especially if you're running a blast. Over time they will kill it. Sun PSU or ATX power supply and jasens converter.

The best advice really is don’t take shit as gospel and when you can test things yourself do it. Learning how to use a multimeter goes a long way in this hobby.

Agreed, however, in this exact case, you really need an oscilloscope. I was working on a Sega Rally cab last week. The Happ PSU was putting out an exact 5V measured from the ROM board, however, the game wasn't starting up. You could have thought that the game board was busted.

Surprise, the game board was absolutely fine. It was the PSU. The ripple was off the chart. Multimeters don't always tell the truth.

As for taking things as gospel, please don't. I've spewed a lot of junk over the years. We're all here to learn and we all make mistakes.

Change the fans just like most all arcade stuff. I swear I’ve changed 20 fans lately.

blast PSU being killed by naomis.. EL OH EL. I've seen the opposite, only because people crank the 5v and 3.3v pots too high.

ATX PSUs better than blast PSU.. maybe, if you can find one with an adjustment pot. I, personally, have had mixed interactions using a PC PSU as a JVS PSU, and that would have been fixed by having a voltage adjustment potentiometer.

Sun PSU's will start crapping out soon - OK, arcadamus. Can't wait for your remaining revelations.
