all right so I’ve been:
  1. testing continuity
  2. swapping wheel control panel back and forth
  3. swapping board around
  4. checking voltage

everything is tip top yet one side refuses to consistently enable forcefeedback. It did work a few random times.

I am now convinced Its not the wheel motor, the wiring or the ffb board.

Anybody knows what the flashing on these forcefeedback mean? sega 838-14174 aka ADHP0238ZZ aka model UDDF44B1SG

so far I have:

On power on, steady one flash until the forcefeedback test then it stops flashing and stays On means you’re all good.

3 flash pause… 3 flash pause… is what the non working side does. And I swapped the ffb boards and the flashing stays with the sides: they both work on the right and they both don’t work on the left.
Anybody knows what that means?!
Thanks

time to sleep on it.

after a full night sleep, I worked on it some more:

Tried another 120 to 100 volt transformer on another ffb board ... and I saw it also flashed 3 times.
That's when I figured I should try to understand why it works instead of trying to figure out why it doesn't work: I unplugged everything but the power on the working one and plug the connectors one at a time. and it's CN1 that makes it go "one flash" instead of "tree flash".

...What do you see a lot of in there?

That's right. Connectors.
The more time you spend searching, the stupider and smaller the problem is. I had pinged them all but I guess something wasn't quite right and reconnecting the one in RED "fixed it".

so 3 flash means you're not connected to the encoder ||

...and after 2 races, we agree that Initial D is a much more technical game than Wangan 2! pretty happy now!
good day!
