Hi All,

Thanks for reading. I am working on a project I’ll be tracking in this project forum thread.

I have been tearing down my Unico NovaBlast to understand its wiring and ultimately to figure out how to get a proper power supply in the cab to give clean adjustable 5V to my Jamma, CPS2, and MV6 when I throw them in.

What I noticed is the existing PSU and the break out board for powering the display, fans, amp, marquee, and control board for the Jamma are all JST connections.

Most the PSUs setups I have seen seem to be direct connections between the Jamma and PSU and other items like the fans.

Could I terminate cabling to leverage the break out board and the control board pointing 5V 12V and ground to the control board and 12V and ground to the break out?

Does the existing JST connection type make that impossible?

[Update]
I am looking to use a separate PSU like a Happ and will wire to new JST connections. I just need to figure out which PSU works for my needs. Would love some input. More info below!

Diagram of the current cabling for power between the components and how many wires are in each run between JST connections.

UPDATE:

Thinking I can use Wago connectors to act as a breakout. I could go 5V/Ground and 12/Groundout off a PSU and have each type into a respective set of wago connectors and on the other end supply the needed amount of cabling to match the pinout of the JST 12 pin that feeds the control board and Jamma harness.

With 12 V going to the amp, fans, display, and marquee I am assuming I could do the same with them as well and just avoid the break out board and original PSU all together. OR I could keep the display, fans, and marquee on the original setup if the community thinks there would be a load issue.

I think I am at a good spot but will need to hold until I can discuss PSUs with someone.

UPDATE:

Really hope someone can chime in here.

I was reading a few posts pointing to the Happ 15. It specs +5V at 15A and +12V at 2A. Another post noted powering anything outside the Jamma the +12 should have a higher amperage…

My initial thought was to use a single power supply to power Jamma/Control Board, amp, screen, fans, and marquee. Would the 15 Happ have enough power?

If that’s not the case could I tie the fans and Jamma off of the Happ at least?

Is there a different PSU with higher 12V amperage I should look at?
