I was thinking of having my netbooting pi hooked up to a 5V source coming from the Naomi. I've seen others attach wires to CN12 on the outside of the Naomi itself but there's also the CN4 pins inside the netdimm as well. I believe there's a 5V line somewhere in there but wasn't sure which. Would anybody happen to know which one? I'll start poking around with a multimeter otherwise.

Which do people prefer though and why? CN12 on the Naomi itself or CN4 to keep it local to the netdimm?

Use cn12

as that is direct on the filterboard where the input of the 5v rail is. If you undersurge power from the dimm it can lead to errors on your unit. :-)

Thanks for the info! After I saw your offering on the Netdimms I got interested in learning more. That definitely makes sense to use CN12 then and pull as local as you can to the input.

Nice. I was just planning on using some really basic wires I already had laying around from other hobbyist projects.

Just use two female connectors + a chopped in half microusb cable and bam. Your approach is definitely easier/cleaner/better but if I can avoid spending any more my wallet could use a break from the abuse. :S
