What's new
I’ve played through Warzard several times without any stuttering. I didn’t even know other people were having stuttering issues with the game until now. :D

this is the SCSI controller chip that I removed on my board. It’s in the corner behind the SIMM slots.

Thanks! Hm not the easily-liftable kind but maybe I can find something in-line.

If you’re good at SMD work, you could just remove the chip altogether with hot air. It removes and reinstalls pretty cleanly in my experience.

Hmmm...well here’s a link to the attract screen playing all the way through twice-there isn’t any pausing that I’m noticing. However, the SCSI controller chip was dead on my CPS3 board when I bought it (among other problems) so I removed it. Maybe that’s why I’m not seeing any issues.

Your intro sounds like it has a delay in the audio during the attract mode. The audio sounds out of sync. Does any one else notice that?

@ShootTheCore which chip is that? I could try lifting power and seeing if that fixes mine. Fwiw I skipped attract and noticed it during actual gameplay. Not sure if attract is affected, I’ll check when I’m back home but you could play a bout also
Attract mode was definitely affected on mine, played last night and let attract run while I was doing other stuff.

I don't have any issues with my Red Earth. Can someone post up a video of what to look for? I'm also running the UltaSIMM + nocd and standard sh-2 cart.

I also still have my SCSI chip intact.

Not even worth a video... the image pauses and sound hangs (sustains the note) for a good full second basically every 15 seconds or so. Does it in attract too, just checked.

Shows the delay in attract mode and during gameplay.

Edit: just checked it when set to Japan region like ShootTheCore’s video, same pauses.

Setup: Jojo2 NOCD board, Standard NOCD SuperBios, UltraSimms.

@Epyc id love to know if you see that issue, and if you don’t I’d love to see photos of your setup to see what could possibly be different. Otherwise I’m about to take some heat to my pcb for science.

I found the reset signal to that scsi chip and I can lift that pin... but it’s tied to a custom and it’s pretty fine pitch.

Indeed. Let’s see if we can figure out what’s different/same. Mine is 95682A-2 but I have another mobo in a case somewhere I could pull out too. No battery either on this.

If we can’t see anything I’ll lift this pin or short reset to ground ;)

Oh wow, that’s really noticeable. I haven’t encountered that or any freezes in my playthrough of Red Earth/Warzard.

I can take a closer look at my setup later but here’s a video and pics of my setup:

Same factory mods all over the place? https://imgur.com/a/2Khcm38

Yep, same factory mods. Although my battery exploded, taking out a ton of components, traces and vias. It took quite a bit of repair work to bring it back. Not my cleanest repair work ever but working with all the damage, those tiny traces and 32 AWG patch wire was challenging.

So I drove the scsi reset line to ground and I’m not getting any stopping anymore. Needs more testing but I’m thinking this is one way to solve the problem. No idea why @Epyc has no problems (sweet setup!!), maybe his scsi chip is dead or something!

Awesome!

I think it’s been established that it doesn’t matter but my board is final rev (95682A-4), no mods of any kind except for the rom swaps. AFAIK it had never been used before last week.

FWIW. Prior to this I had the SCSI2SD setup. It was also working fine. I so I think the SCSI controller chip is still functioning fine.
