I was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with this. I picked up a virtual pinball table at auction this summer and it has a few quirks. It's in perfect working order. Although it came with a coin slot door, there are no mechs inside the door or any circuitry that I can find for triggering game start or user credits. It's a giant horizontal touch screen, but I want it to simply stay on a preselected table and not give the user the freedom of table options outside of what a real pinball table would give. Pop the quarters in, hands to either side, pull the plunger and smack the flippers. That's it.
Part of the reason is I don't want the play surface to be constantly smeared with greasy fingertips and part is because I don't want the possibility of guests messing up the table without an understanding of how it works. If you know what you're doing, or accidentally press the right part of the screen, you can launch out of pinball and into Windows and screw everything up in a hurry. Ive considered maybe swapping out the software for another devs virtual pinball game. Not sure how practical that is, since this table was obviously designed for FX specifically. Even though the PinballFX software is free, Im not sure what the legal advice would be on cracking into the code and writing what needs to be written if the options Im looking for simply don't exist within the confines of the existing program.
ANY help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated!
