Primal Rage, Intermittent Audio

Now, here's the "big" one. I have replacement DIN96 connectors coming, but they are press fit.

This may be its own thread, but is there any way to remove and install pressfit connectors properly? My understanding is that press fit does not mean "push in with your hand", but "Forcibly applied via industrial actuators". Same with removal. I'm guessing I'll have to remove it destructively?

You’re gonna replace that one?
Gonna guess destructive :D

The top housing slides off my bottom pcb’s connector entirely, but I still feel like the bottom part is secured with something undoable without said industrial equipment. It’s like the pins expanded when they were connected to each other. Just a guess though.

I think you're correct. This Reddit thread was fairly educational for me:

Mine is the same way. I can pull the shroud off easily (I do have replacement shrouds coming, but they may as well be just cosmetic it seems).

If this part is the problem, I may have to ditch the press fit and get one I can solder on (if the pads are even such that I can solder one on?). I can't even budge the bottom connector slightly though -- I wonder if there is a glue or something working in conjunction with the press fit.

Yeah, I'm not thinking this is something that will just snap in...

well, I have finally narrowed it down to the DIN connector that connects the sound board to the main board.

When I lightly twist on the top portion (pictured), the audio comes in.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this? With them being press-fit I don't think I can just replace the parts. I really don't want to wire things permanently or make special connectors, but I can't think of much else that doesn't risk damaging the board.
