Hi,

Given the price of the Sun PSUs is quite high right now and I need a power supply for a Naomi 2, I was thinking about using a modular PSU

https://www.amazon.com/Antec-750-Ja...-spons&keywords=modular+atx+power+supply&th=1

Why a PSU like this? To feed the electronic coin validatorsm the coin doors lights and a strip of LEDs behind the marquee.

Using such high wattage PSU is dangerous for the Naomi 2 / CF reader combo or not?

Thanks!

The high wattage doesn't matter. the problem with using a PC PSU is that they're not adjustable.

On the SUN PSU, as with most arcade PSUs you can adjust 5V and 3.3V output to be slightly higher or slightly lower as needed... not possible on a PC PSU.

Just take the hit or save up and buy the SUNS buddy. Remember SUNS are designed for the arcade systems. You also can adjust the voltage levels. The 3.3v is the picky one for sure. I find it interesting that you mentioned the SUNS being expensive right now? I have purchased many SUNS PSU for different clients and they have always been around 100$ w/ shipping. Again, I would highly recommend purchasing the correct PSU for your arcade equipment. I found this one on eBay today. Link.
