Perhaps I'm not following what to do next here, but I feel a bit lost.
I know I'm close to getting all this to work, but perhaps I'm just not finding what I'm looking for with concern to soldering points.
Currently the board is loading games and communicating, but all I get is a purple screen.
I know the A board is functioning as I have another Xmen COTA around to mess with.

With this purple wiggly screen, I think I may have missed some steps here.

So....
I started with a dead (purple screen) Marvel Vs Street Fighter board.
Revision 93646B-7

It's little GPAL stock chip is BGSB3G
I swapped that with the kit's chip anyways.

The soldering points are SOOS SO OSOSOS SOSOSOSO SOSOSOS (pre-soldered)

I got the daughterboards stacked according to the instructions.
I can see the LCD screen bright and clear, my video output is a purple wiggly screen.
It seems to be communicating between the kit, and the control panel/LCD screen as I'm getting options to see the games, flashing ****** info, and flashing complete etc.

I'm assuming there's a reset wire I need to jumper somewhere?
Some kits i see the CN9 wire, others I see them all over the place.
Maybe I'm just getting my info crossed on where that goes.

Any help would be great and sorry for being such a n00b here.
I studied all this beforehand and for some reason, my brain is just not functioning today.
Thanks everybody!

That fact that you are seeing the info you are on the LCD means the kit is getting power. So there are a few things that cause your issue.

The pcbs are not pushed together tightly enough. (It looks like the interconnect is on correctly)
The pcb may need to have the EXC5 shorted in order to be sure the encryption keys are in fact gone.
There may be a problem with the SD card.

But my guess is that since you don't have the key-writing wires solderd and connected that you are trying to load a game that requires keys. Try loading MVC unlocked and see if it works.

I'm using the SD card included with the kit. Formatted to FAT32.

The PCBs were triple inspected to make sure everything was sandwiched properly without crushing/forcing it.
Everything looks pretty slotted where it belongs.
I was quite slow with the process
I'll keep trying, and I noticed a couple pins were not pushed in and sat down when I applied a bit of force to it.

EXC5 was shorted.

Also I might not be using the correct rom package, and I still need to read up on the Key writing situation.

Thanks for your quick help, I'll keep hammering away.

Edit:
watching this video, and this is kinda making sense. I'm probably not using the right rom set.
I need to put the pieces together in my head about these roms.

Flip through the games and load up the game called MVC Unlocked. It will boot without key-writing. See if that one works for you.

Turned everything on, found MVC Unlocked, flashed it. Screen stayed purple.
LCD screen says "now playing MVC Unlocked"
Still showing a purple screen.

UPDATE: Scratch that, it decided to boot for some reason.
I just kept squeezing down items, making sure things are seated.
Also I think I chose the wrong rom pack.
I'll need to locate the exact pin layout for that encrypted rom set to get working.

I think what's not entirely clear is the authentic roms using the key writing vs the old rom set.
Plus I was following the old PDF for installs, and watching the older videos.

Your comment about loading the game with keys finally created my "AH HA!" moment.
That's the concept I couldn't grasp.
I'm assuming this new kit has the newer firmware, so it technically should be safe to solder the CN9 leads up and load up the roms?
Also does this kit use more power than a regular CPS2?
I'm noticing a higher power draw.

On a side note, If I could buy you guys a beer right about now.
THANK YOU! This thing is awesome!
