I found the .jed file for the U117, (Gal 16v8d Lattice) in mame as they have been released for some time.
I have programmed and checked the chip several times (and with different programmers) but it doesn't work.
At this point I'm wondering if it's a programmer or program problem.
I'd like to know if anyone has successfully used that .jed file and gotten the Gal working.

Has anyone delt with boot file checksum mismatch error? Replaced u61,known good 2.09 boot rom,known good hdd image, Replaced ram both sets ,known hood u53
No luck any ideas?
 
Is U61 different for red boards vs green boards? I tried upgrading GT Fore to 2006 Complete on my green board (updating U15, U53, U61) and that worked great. I tried the same on my red board (generating U61 using the xls generator) and I get a red screen saying the software is incompatible and the serial # shows 000000-F.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ok, I actually got my board working. I burned the MAME u61 from NVRAM and it worked. Here's what I noticed.

1) The excel generator sets HW Revision=7. The Red Board I had, the HW Revision is 9. The MAME u61 has HW Revision set to 9 and uses serial #1118482.
2) I modified the excel generator to use HW revision 9, but the generated file using my serial #54306 still produces the red screen zeroed out serial # behavior.
3) I punched in the serial # from the MAME u61 into the generator, and it generated the same hex as what was in MAME (so the checksum is being calculated correctly), and that binary works on my board.
4) SO ... that leads me to believe that my original board SERIAL NUMBER (#54306) is the problem here. I had read from ed12 somewhere a single blurb about "your serial number may be too low and not valid for that version of the software". I don't know where that check is happening, but in my estimation, that MUST be the problem here since we know that with HW Revision 9 set and serial #1118482 the excel generator DOES produce the correct hex code.

Thoughts? :)
