I mentioned this a few times but never had pictures to make it clear.
Since I've added it to yet another Chihiro, I thought I would snap a few pictures to document the process

the dc to dc DFR0379

any ac adaptor above 7.2 volt will work (here an old KVM one it seems)

insert the adaptor wires in the chihiro fist ( there are 2 nice holes here for that ... or looking at the picture, a lot on the other side!), tie a knot to not pull it off by accident

(well yes I did made that avip cable!)

12.4V goes in

you adjust to 7.2

double side tape

stick it and plug it (connector is VHR-3N, pins are SVH-21T-P1.1)

and you're good to go. The game will stay in memory as long as that adaptor is plugged in and you don't go without power!

props to Teknotoyz for the original idea.

Great write up!
Curious... can you not just wire a 7.2v AC/DC adapter directly w/o the DFR0379?
Thx!

Thanks and yes of course if you have it, go ahead! Since it's not a very common value (like 9v or 12v), that little 5$ dc2dc board does the trick.

Hey, thanks for the great idea—this works great in a netDIMM board and NAOMI.

Since my NAOMI doesn’t live in a cabinet, I soldered a barrel adapter to the input voltage side of the step down converter so that I can break everything down and put back in storage when not in use. I cut a slot in the battery cover so that only the barrel adapter hangs out.
