Heyo folks!

I have recently seized my prized jewel of an arcade stick, the Sega Saturn virtua stick pro and hooked it up to my supergun. Everything was working flawlessly when I realized my three punch buttons were set to the bottom row and my three kick buttons set to the top row—in other words reversed from the typical top row of punches, bottom row of kicks in capcom fighters.

While it’s not by any means a deal breaker it’s annoying after getting so used to the classic layout for all these years. I blame it on improper wiring in my super gun (a time harvest CBOX). It can’t be my kick harness, right?

I heard @RGB used to make jamma remap devices which would probably solve my issue but they haven’t been in stock for years. Are there any other solutions (beyond soldering—I don’t want to mess with my boards or gun tbh) that anyone here might be able to share to remap the buttons? Maybe an adapter?

right but unfortunately I am not nearly skilled enough to rewire it. It’s one of these super guns. Honestly would be more tempted to get a new gun entirely if there are no options beyond hardware level tinkering/no adapter that can resolve it. It’s only an issue with 6 button/Sega Saturn port it seems.

I would wager that it's wired that way for pad players / JAMMA where you would actually want 1-3 on the bottom row. Playing with only XY instead of AB on a 2 button game for example... ideal for a stick, sub optimal for a pad.. Most people with arcade sticks for a supergun are using the neo/dsub standard, so I'm not surprised the Saturn ports are mapped as such. And I wouldn't change it on the supergun side.

Does your supergun not have db15 input? https://arthrimus.com/product/saturn-to-db15-controller-adapter/

That adapter has remapping and if you need it hard wired, a db15 extension cable with the appropriate wires swapped should do it without any mods to anything but that cable.

That's a bummer.

Still, use DB15 for your stick, it will save you a lot of headaches. I know you don't want to mod, but adding that port is minimal if nobody makes readily available saturn to DB15 adapters anymore.

(edit: how nice of Athrimus to not show "out of stock" when you select the item, until you try to add it to your cart. I wouldn't have posted the link otherwise )
