That’s also a no

only step that are cpu and video inter change are the step 2.0 and the 2.1 as it’s just a new revision of hardware placement

but 1.0 and 1.5 run on diff cpu s and speeds etc even tho tech 1.5 should easy run 1.0 it’s not working to diff bus layout

There's a note in the MAME Driver about using the Step 1.0 video board in a Step 1.5 stack:

Scud Race uses a newer revision of some of the Sega custom chips. Swapping a VF3 Video board
onto a Scud Race will result in an error on bootup 'JUPITER ASIC HAS THE WRONG ID CODE' and the
game will not boot (some of the RED LEDs flash on/off continually)
The above layout is for Scud Race. The chip listing on VF3TB is....
IC76 - 315-5827-B
IC77 - 315-5828-A
IC90 - 315-5831-A
IC78 - 315-5829-B
IC79 - 315-5830-A
IC92 - 315-5830-A
Other than the revision of the listed chips, the PCBs are identical.

I would suspect a similar error would occur the other way around (Step 1.5 Video board in a Step 1.0 stack)

So the problem must be the JUPITER ID. It's very interesting though

there are more problems than that. it's just checking the ID and hauling the boot process before it actually runs into the other problems.

it'd be like if you had a giant bag of marbles and a label that said "not for human consumption"
then you hand it to your friend and tell him to eat.
and then he replies "I can't, it says not for human consumption!"
so then you change the label and hand it back to him...
