Recently picked up a Sega Lindbergh and Sega New Net City, this is my first arcade cabinet and restoration on an arcade cabinet. My goal is to upgrade the screen to 32in 4k OLED, brooks fight board and ps5/ pc support and all lighting upgraded to LED. The cabinet arrived was in semi rough shape, dirt and cigarette ash on the interior, scratches on the exterior. It's pretty amazing to take this apart and find a story being told within the cabinet. A lot of cleaning and parts to be taking apart.

Polishing parts. Decided to go with the Sega astro city button color theme instead of the Lindbergh gray

Prepping for painting and cleaning. Speakers needed a deep clean along with entire body. The wrist bar had deep scratches from watches, I couldn't polish this, so I needed to add metal bondo and sanding.

following this with interest!

What screen are you thinking about? I would be really interested to hear if the MSI MAG 321UPX QD-OLED 32 inch fits as I picked one up for a great price during the black Friday sales. The MSI even runs vanilla mame lag free at the game's native refresh rate (VRR).

I went with the "Acer Predator X32 X3 ". I wanted G-sync and 240hz on 4k. The LG 32 oled was too bulky on the backside to fabricate with the original brackets.

Pulled out the 1080p Toshiba monitor. Replacing glass with full clear glass, no need for anti reflective glass when i am upgrading the monitor to HDR. Top banner fully added.

Went to a glass maker to change out the non reflective glass to clear. He only charged me 50$ which was half of what I was quoted online and other local shops near me. I upgraded the monitor from the original Toshiba 32in led to a Acer 4k OLED predator. Audio was upgraded to a Fosi Hifi 2 channel amp. I have the HDMI routed to an analog to hdmi controller that supports 2.1 and 4k 120hz. Upgraded the lights to 6500k 24in led t8, no more fluorescent light. Almost finished. Just waiting on a new top banner from yahoo auctions Japan and new instructions cards from the UK. I’m going to keep the artwork basic Sega Lindbergh for the time being.

Last touches to the Lindbergh and it’s done. Instructional space came in from Olly over at Arcade art shop! The top card has been updated to the OEM card which I found on yahoo auctions Japan (Shipping was not cheap) and the final touch: Sega emblem for the monitor bezel. Updated the brooks board firmware for the ps5. Now I’m moving on to the Sega new net city next!

Its going to take a lot of Peroxide to retrobrite this front panel on the Sega new net city. I think I'm just going to have this painted using a spray gun. I will need to tear everything down and prep it with sanding, bondo for cracks and primer. This cab I am going to keep 100% original using a naomi 2 pi setup and cps2 jamma hook up. Need to order caps for power supply and crt

Well done on the Lindbergh. These aren’t hugely coveted like the Vewlix but I like them. The JP sellers have them for $250USD now which I think is a steal.

I tidied up a couple of these myself, and was going down the 1440p monitor upgrade route (2 x resolution of the RingEdge II multi) but never got around to it after starting resto work on crt cabs.

You did very well to find a monitor that just dropped in and you could retain the glass. Other people have laboured over what monitor to get that drops in easily. My setup has a whole bunch of 3D printed brackets ready to go to make it fit, but yours looks very neat.

Also well done on getting the original billboard. I looked high and low for one for a couple of years without success.

A few questions if I may.

*Have you wired in the monitor so it turns on when the machine is powered on?
*Were any other mods required to get the monitor to sit nicely in place.
*Can you make any adjustments to the monitor or if not what mode is it in permanently?
*How are you controlling all your PS extra buttons?
*Where did you score the Sega badge? I’m thinking of using a Gate 90 keyring to stick on my machine that’s missing one.

Thanks for sharing. Best of luck with the next one.

If you ever wanted to be bothered setting up a panel to support the Brook features and PS buttons here’s a pic of what it did on one of mine by sacrificing a Noir clone panel.

Very unrated cab I have a repo 2L16B CP blanked down to 12B.

I changed my oem top flo tube to a led one & just removed the started & swapped out the old.

I still have my glass but don't intend to use it really nice job on what you did to yours.
