Here is my offering into the world of arcade superguns. I recently picked up a Sega System 16 Golden Axe board as a repair project. While familiarising myself with the Sega System 16 I realised it used a different pinout to JAMMA. Even Sega advised users on how to connect an adapter board (why not just keep it JAMMA ?(). I also realised that most superguns are designed to use DB15 controllers which aren't as readily available from what I could tell. To use a more commonly available Sega Mega Drive or Saturn cable requires another adapter board (or x2 if using 2 player). So I decided to combine it all into an all in one Sega System 16 supergun, the Sega Mega Gun.

Features:
  • Sega 16 / 24 edge connector pinout
  • 6 pin Mini-Fit-Jr connector for arcade or ATX psu
  • Unused -5V pin used for ATX Power On signal
  • LEDs for +5V and +12V
  • Coin, Test and Service tactile buttons
  • 9 pin min din AV connector for Sega Mega Drive 2 cable
  • Video signals buffered and attenuated for 75 Ohm impedance via THS7374
  • Audio signals galvanically isolated and attenuated for Line level audio
  • Separate audio RCA outputs available
  • 9 pin Mega Drive controller ports managed by onboard CPLD
  • LED to indicate CPLD programming mode

Future features (once I get my head around CPLD coding)
  • Button remapping
  • Rapid fire function

Thanks for the info. That thread is what encouraged me to use a CPLD for button remapping due to the variation in button order.

The edge connector is SB16 layout so no need to use adapters.
