Looking through MAME source it seems that these are the games that included a Security board:

Daytona USA 2
Daytona USA 2 Power Edition
Dirt Devils
Emergency Call Ambulance (prototype)
L.A. MachineGuns
Magical Truck Adventure
Ocean Hunter
SpikeOut Final Edition
Star Wars Trilogy
Virtua Striker 2 98 (Step 1.5)
Virtual On OT 5.2
Virtual On OT 5.4

Daytona 2 is probably going to be the cheapest/easiest one to find

I'll keep an eye out.

there's a Daytona 2 PE ROM, security, and COM board set on eBay right now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/SEGA-DAYTO...017769?hash=item2394e6eee9:g:fCwAAOSw-olaBKys

you'll still need the rest of the Step 2 stack though. CPU and Filterboards are easy to come by but the GPU boards are prone to BGA failure which is why you see a lot of Model 3s parted out.

What is daytona 2 boardset worth? I have a full game I am going to be parting out. Game works, but no topper, side panels and seat back were spray painted black.

@dung id say about 300 usd. Do you have also the sound board on top of it , do You?

Plmk.

that all depends on how well it works. I have a "working" VOOT board set but the GPU board displays garbage on some of the 2D graphical elements, that seems to be a common failure as I've seen this particular problem a lot. So yeah... you'll need to check more than it boots and passes a ROM/RAM check to confirm it fully working.

Also... FWIW this VOOT board was 100% working before it was shipped... Sega's BGA technology blows :( The safest way to ship is actually to remove the stack from the cage and wrap it about 10000x in bubble wrap.

I played it for a couple hours a week ago. I saw no issues with it. I can open it up and take pictures. Model 3 isn't my area of expertise.

Imgur
Here is what I have. Played another game on it tonight. Saw no issues other than the monitor has burn in and colors are faded, but that isn't the board. Can anyone tell if it has the requested protection board?

Yes, the security board is above the Daytona 2 label in the top left corner of your pic.

Anyone to contribute to my M81 to M72 effort ?
Files will be released for free here (X-Multiply already released).

I think I may have at home a complete model 3 with security board, but I need to check.

@dung what about that daytona 2 of yours?

@Apocalypse what's the difference between sega megaplay and sega megatech?

Perfectly happy for someone to make me an offer. Cash, lindbergh multis, ID5 export, or ID6-8 stuff.

Megatech:
- Supports Megadrive and Master System games
- Up to 8 cartridges
- You buy time not credits, games are identical than their Megadrive/Master System counterparts

Megaplay:
- Supports only Megadrive games (might support Master System games as well with a bit of hacking)
- Up to 4 cartridges
- You buy credits. Games are modified Megadrive games. For instance Sonic has less levels (although all are present in the ROM) and plays in time attack.

On the paper, megatech looks better to me :)
Sure but I've designed a converter to use Megadrive cartridges on Megaplay I'd like to test.
I've hacked the Megaplay BIOS otherwise you have an error message displayed on the top layer when playing Megadrive games.

I've got an R-Type II boardset I would be happy to trade for any M72 game (except R-Type due to the different romboard).
So please trade you M72 Hamerin' Harry or Legend Of Hero Tonma for R-Type II ;)

I've got a Hammerin' Harry that If I'm not mistaken is a M81. Let me check as soon as I get back home. The problem would be to find it among 400 other PCBs :)
