Hello
I am looking for a plug and play power Supply solution to power my Sega Naomi 2 + Netdimm
thanks

Thanks for the great Advice .
@Mitsurugi-w, @Lemony Vengeance or @dos can most likely sort you out with a cable. I’d hook you up but postage would sting.

Re: the ATX PSU, I had bad luck with many newer models (group regulation) and better luck with older supplies. This thread might help: https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/out-of-spec-atx-power-supplies-when-under-load-jvs.2131/

Best thing is once you find what works, you’re good to go. If you want to keep it authentic and OG, grab a Sun PSU.

my awsd powers naomi just fine. is there something im missing here?
The Wei-ya PSUs are widely regarded as trash. As long as you have them connected to a step down converter for 100v they’re better, HOWEVER it’s much better to replace it with something that’s pretty bulletproof and not janky.

Besides, netbooting requires a solid 3.3v rail

That is really what started me down this path of replacing the Wei-ya PSU. I could get good enough 5V regulation to run most JAMMA games, but it would not supply stable 3.3V via the JVS power connectors to run a NAOMI netboot setup. I didn't want to get a step down and bother with all that so I just replaced the PSU and made the plug and play adapter.

Stable power should always be your goal especially with NAOMI systems. I am glad to see more drop in replacements and adapters being made, both for arcade and retro computers. Many things like motherboards and CRTs we will have to service until they reach end of life, but I see no reason not to simply replace 20+ year old power supplies with something new whenever possible (difficult in a blast city which I recapped instead but none the less). By possible I mean a PSU which meets voltage needs and can be mounted in place of or inside of the original PSU enclosure.

I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to be making a bunch of your PCBs for people that need them :)

Bit late to the conversation, sounds like you have a solution. But I went pico-atx awhile back. Just needs a good 12v and everything works great. Very convenient when working on my bench setup.
