I assume you can only play via a wheel?
Or you can build an adapter to use a joystick and buttons. Something neater than just 0/100% signals. I can post the schematics if you're interested.Last thing, OutRun is far from being JAMMMA.

@rewrite BTW thanks for tagging me but I'm looking for faulty boards.
I always would love to figure out a way to convert outrun to Jamma, and stick/button controls. Currently Jamma 2 Saturn is the only way I can play it in this configuration.

Don't judge me, I know it's a dirty job but at least all inputs are supported including SERVICE and TEST and you can actually beat the game.
Directions use a RC circuit to build up a charge (and a LS04 for buffering and also inverting left signal), timing is such as it goes from neutral to full left or full right in just under 1s, but being a first order response it's not linear (faster at the beginning).
Accelerator has the same RC circuit, brakes are ON/OFF.
Regarding L/H speed, button 3 is wired to a latch and I've installed a LED so I can check in which gear I am.

Since then I've built a much neater adapter supporting both OutRun hardware and X and Y boards with proper keyed connectors (doubled connectors for audio and video) but that Turbo OutRun was handy so took a picture of it instead of digging in my stuff. The "new" adapter can also switch from mono to stereo just like MVS boards since my one and only cab is a big red pacific version.

I made a loom for outrun and power drift. It's really not that difficult.
I use a power drift panel and pedals for both games, but you can use any wheel and pedals, all the pots are 5k.
It's not a real adapter to JAMMA since you still need analog control and RCA for audio...
In fact I don't see the point with that adapter.

Even the comments are weird. That guy wanting to build an adapter from OutRun to Power Drift. The only difference is the size of the audio and video connectors. Pinout is the same.

What I meant is, it works great for me, I have a Power drift panel and a sound amp, so it’s just a matter of putting the right wire in the right place to play in my jamma cab with the Power Drift panel bolted on.

@Apocalypse: wasn’t really reading your posts, so I missed you got it working with joysticks..... very cool :)

I'm looking for the 315-5325 PAL your Power Drift should have on the bottom board in order to reverse it. :whistling:

If you dont kill it, I can send it to you :D
Well, I'll pay a replacement from retroclinic if I do (but you'll have to order it yourself since he won't sell me anything now I guess).
To reassure you I reversed a dozen of those Sega CPLDs the last week and none has suffered damage. :D

Really? crazy.

Btw do you plan on releasing your dumping device / software, it would speed up the process of getting all these registered PLDs revesed and not just for Sega boards. Unless it's still an involved complicated process even with those things?

Yes really. He did that with Porchy before.
Also he was stupid not sharing the jed file with me. He "forced" me to find a solution for those registered devices and now anyone has access to jed files for replacement chips he's selling.

The dumping device isn't rocket science, I don't know why no one ever thought about it before. The software part isn't complicated either, I'm simply using known reduction methods combined with info I get from the dump analysis.

A last word, I've seen a lot of time people on forums spitting on my work, etc.
Yet they want me to share what my dumb mind has been able to create when those geniuses couldn't. ;)

Interesting stuff, dunno who or what you're talking about in regards to people spitting on your work. My point was just if the method was public more of these jed files would be created and more boards get preserved, which is everyones goal right?

Anyway good job and I am sure more will get released over time either way, jammarcade.net is already hosting a very nice collection (which I've contributed to, including some of the sega ones you've redone).

Yeah their page wasn't up to date so I simply reversed all that were missing. Not really a big deal reversing small PLDs is a quick process, I actually spend much more time testing them properly (playing at least one level of the game).
