Hey everyone as the title indicates

Want To Buy a Sega STV Motherboard with ModBios or Japanese Bios

I currently have a U.S. SEGA STV with Die Hard, unfortunately it doesnt play Radiant SilverGun 100% as the Japanese board.

Thanks for reading.

I got your PM, but I'll respond here in case others come across this thread in the future.

I had hyperneogeo burn my Modbios. I think he charged $7/shipped or so. @Mitsurugi-w might also offer them. It's really easy to install, you just pop the old chip out of the socket and insert the modbios. Couldn't be simpler, and that will allow any STV motherboard to play all games.

Here's mine (the gold-labeled "STV" chip holds the bios):

Mitsurugi burned mine. I was the dumb dumb who threw it in backwards....think it might have shorted something...so I have to take it by my folks and get it sorted....
Mitsurugi did great though!

Worth noting: there are two different chips used. I did not realize this when I got my modbios and thought I just got a bum chip. Then i got the 4-im-1 switcher for the bios and it STILL didn't work, which confused me greatly. Eventually I looked into it further, realized my motherboard has the more rare bios chip, and had someone (honestly can't remember who) burn me a modbios on that chip. Works perfectly now, and as a bonus i did no lasting damage by trying to use the wrong one.

But figured maybe I could save someone else the headache I had.

If your mothetboard came with an eprom bios It's a 27c4096 like a cps2 program rom. If it came with a mask rom then a 27c400 is the right one (this one is far more common from what I've seen).

27c400 can be replaced with 27c800 or 27c160 if the image is duplicated to fill.
