What's new
Hi,
could you tell me someone what difference is between these two Sega System 18 boards? One board is labelled 171-5873-02A (837-7177-02) and second revision is 171-5873B (837-7177). The 171-5873-02A has CN8 and and additional header CN9 while 171-5873B has only CN8 header. What is the CN9 header for and which board is older? Thanks.

The 837-7177-02 is newer it also has the extra connector and en extra crystal. Could you share hi-res pictures of these PCBs please ?

Unfortunatelly I have no hi-res pictures. It is all what I have found on the Internet... The additional CN9 header should have something common with other controller or spinner?

Maybe it has, with a hi-res picture we might be able to find out where the traces go.

Maybe people here can check their System18 PCB to determin if they own a: 837-7177-02 ?

The black connector on the right edge (CN5?) accepts the same choice of I/O boards for trackballs or 3P/4P inputs, I believe. Same as System 16/24/32.

CN9 ist tha connector in the circle...
