Hi there, I'm facing a very weird (compared to others I've seen) sound issue with my Outrunners board, sound pretty much works but the music tracks get more and more crowded with notes that do not stop, it's like they're all sustained. When going out of the sound test menu whatever last note was playing continues to hang permanently until restarting the game or playing other audio track.

All roms verified fine with mame romident. Game self rom test gives all good (but it does not test the sound roms anyways).

Also I've tried this Outrunners rom board in my other System 32 multi mainboard (Title Fight with graphics issue), and music sounds prefect. From there I rule out that there could be an issue with the rom board.
But the weirdest thing is that doing the opposite, installing the Title Fight rom board in the Outrunners mainboard, music works perfectly too! :S, so the issue happens only when using the Outrunners mainboard with Outrunners rom board.

I am trying to draft a theory of the fault to focus the research on something but can't figure out which part could be causing this, my suspects are:
  • Sega 315-5560 "MultiPCM" (YMW258-F) chip. This one is not part of the regular System 32 board, so unfortunately can't use much of these great schematics https://www.arcade-projects.com/thr...ystem-16a-2-0-super-hang-on.25889/post-424501 for diagnosing it closely. It is also part of Model 1 and Model 2 daytona.
  • Z80
  • Z80's SRAM? or is it the memory backup ram? (MB8464A-10LL)
  • YM3438 (not sure what it does since the MultiPCM is the one producing sound after all)
  • ???
Below is a photo of the board, I know vias aren't pretty, but I've measured some of them related to the 315-5560 and were fine
Here are some recordings:
Thanks!
