Tailsnic Retroworks
Grand Master
In this tutorial I'm going to show how to do this conversion. For this game to be made, you'll need any donor except Avengers in Galactic Storm.
Open the board using the 2 plastic pieces of the sides. Be careful.
If you find any screw below the case here, quit it.
Of the 2 boards inside, this one is the one you need to pay attention to.
If your game brings the custom 146 near the 2 CPU eproms (2D position), quit it. Skull Fang doesn't use it.
Desolder all the mask roms of the game and begin to burn and solder the new ones. Skull Fang needs in total:
- 3x 27c4002 in positions 2A, 2B and 6H
- 6x 29F1610 in positions 2E, 4E, 6E, 8M, 10M, 11M for graphics
- 2x 29F1610 in positions 6A and 11J for sound
In all the 29F1610 positions, you'll have to bridge PIN1 to PIN23 for making WE signal be HIGH. There is no need in lifting PIN1 in any of them, this board doesn't use that pin for anything.
The last thing to do is lift PIN44 of the 2 sound memories. This is because on that zone (WP) is constantly changing states between LOW and HIGH, and is better to isolate it.
Enjoy
