Every release, its current version, downloads, build instructions and screenshots.

Welcome

Thanks to Darksoft for giving these projects a home. This section collects everything I've been building for Capcom's CPS-1 and CPS-2 games, and now a few Neo Geo games too:
  • Enhanced versions: arcade games with the best of their later home versions built in. Characters, modes, cutscenes and more, running as real arcade games.
  • Restorations and translations: what the export versions lost on the way out of Japan, put back in English, plus games that never left Japan at all.
  • Arranged soundtracks: the music Capcom and SNK re-recorded for their CD-era home releases, playing under the arcade games on MiSTer.

How this section works

  • Every release has its own thread in this section. Its first post is always current: what it is, the latest version and what changed, screenshots, and the download link. Bug reports and discussion for a release go in that release's thread.
  • This thread is for announcements. Every update and new release gets a short reply below, linking to the details in its thread, so the newest replies are always the latest news. Watch this thread to hear about everything, or watch a release thread to hear about just that one.
  • Current versions, downloads, build instructions and full change histories are at arcadepatches.com, with every update on the changelog.

Before you start

  • Bring your own games. No game data is hosted. Every kit builds the finished game on your machine from your own romset or disc.
  • Where they run. Most releases are IPS bundles over your stock set that keep the original ROM sizes and key, so they run in MAME and HBMAME, on MiSTer, and on CPS-2 hardware. Each release thread says where its game runs.
  • Romsets. The patch kits take merged, split or non-merged sets, as a .zip, a .7z or a folder.
  • MAME checksum warnings on the patched files are expected and harmless. HBMAME with the matching set definitions loads them without complaint.
  • MiSTer. Everything goes under _Arcade/_Arcade Patches/, split into _Enhanced Versions, _Restorations and _Arrangements. MRAs are named Title (Region) [Tag] and carry region, platform and category fields, so Arcade Organizer sorts them. When you update, delete the old MRAs first, or you'll see duplicates.
  • Release candidates. A version marked "rc" is a release candidate. Reports are very welcome. Post them in the release's thread with the set and build you ran and what you saw, and I can usually turn them around quickly.

Earlier threads

These projects started out in four threads in other sections. They stay up for their history, but new releases and updates are posted here.
Thanks to everyone who has sent in bug reports so far. A lot of what's in these releases came straight from them.
