Street Fighter EX Plus (ZN-1 Board): No background music, but Sound Effects OK

Hello!

So I just got my first Capcom/Sony ZN-1 game, Street Fighter EX Plus and as soon as I started playing it I noticed that something felt...off.

Even though every sound effect is present, every background music is totally absent:

I checked every option on the service menu searching for some "turn off music" but there isn't such thing. I tried all dip switch combinations, nothing, so there's probably some faulty component.

Any advice on how can I fix it?

I think mine did the same and it was a bad z80 on the rom board. If you have access to a different rom board you could try that to see if you get full sound from it.

Correct, the music is done on the top board, it will be something in the Z80 / qsound section.
Verify the 2x 010's and sound mask rom are ok as it's easy, then check the op amps ... if they are silent then it's the cpu side for sure.
