What's new
Yep!! Mental eh?! I would like to keep it original so if I have to change the rim I'll do that I think.......

Someone somewhere will have tyre that size.
If there's one thing you discover restoring Sega stuff is that everything was done on the cheap with off the shelf parts, which kind of works in our favour 😀

the markings don't make sense (at least not for the way they measure tires in the USA). I don't know if UK/Europe is any different.

first number on USA tire is the tread width in mm... I'm fairly certain that tire is not 5mm wide (maybe it's 5 for 5in?)
second number is the wall height as a % of the tread width. 50 seems reasonable (most cars tires are 45 with SUV/Truck tires being 65 or 75) though USUALLY it ends in a 5 not a 0, some do still end in 0.
third number is the wheel diameter in inches. 13 is certainly small but not unreasonable.

as long as you have the diameter correct you can be VERY flexible on the other numbers... I think as long as the tire will fit in your cab and matches the wheel diamter you can probably go with damn near any tire.

just put on some slicks and drive to Monaco :D

The question is when a car tire bursts, the manual says something about truck tires, they can withstand much more pressure...

Yes the tyre is marked "light truck", I'll cart it all to a tyre fitters & see what they say.....

No pressure guides on the tyre which is weird, this is the approx. measurements......

Thanks. The tyre fitters is the other side of town so in the mean time I've moved over to the monitor, I think a FULL recap would be best?

Quick question, I'm going to replace all of the electrolytic caps, I understand the model of this chassis is MS8-26A, seems a solid chassis? Anything else to replace while I'm in there? Thanks :)

I figured as I was ordering capacitors anyway I'd replace the only other remaining original caps! I'm replacing all caps on the amp boards (SJ25-0091-02 x 2 & 601-6228 x 1) & a board I think controls the airdrive or fan?? Part number is 400-5101. Anyone got any info on this board? F2 was blown, BLACK :( However the cabinet fan was hanging off its mount and would not turn so hopefully that is why F2 is blown. In any case I'm recapping it, if it blows after that I have more work to do! Aiming to play by Christmas!!!!

IPA and toothbrush time now.....

Update time :)

OK, it all powered up with no bangs or smoke!! New tyre fitted but the water/oil filter is leaking air so fixing that now. The fuse blowing on the power board was due to it being set to the wrong voltage! I'd never changed this and assumed it was OK as the monitor is marked 110V. However on power on it blew the fuse, I checked the power going into the PSU....240V!!!! I figured nothing to lose by changing the jumper wire to 240v....no blown fuse and the fan works :) It's been like this since I owned it & most probably since the machine arrived in the UK!!! I'm amazed it only blew the fuse, finally some luck!!!

The monitor is spot on since the recap, no picture collapse and managed to adjust the horizontal size, although someone had wound the adjustment for that all the way in!!

The amps all have a voltage adjust pot, anyone know what voltage these should have? I guess it can only be 12v or 5v

My only worry is whether the tyre can take the pressure, the original has no pressure markings, I guess worse case scenario is it goes pop at some point!

So, fix the filter, finish sorting the steering mech out (bearing on the cam wheel)

Filter is fixed, ended up getting a cheap version off eBay as CKD ones are £80! Game kept resetting etc, had bad pin connections so I ordered all of the JST connectors & pin headers. A tip for anyone else, it's easier to destroy the old pin headers than try & desolder them, I used hot air on the PIN side rather than solder side and took each pin out one by one.

Once the wiring is all redone I'm hoping that's it, just some tidying up to do, replace missing bolts and PLAY!
