Hi, I got a Time Crisis 1 pcb and the gun doesn’t want to respond at all. My gun does work and I think it’s an issue with the gun point pcb. It seems to have corrosion on one of the chips. Is there a way to fix the issue or does anyone have a spare for sale? Thanks.

Had this problem before on my TC1 pcb. It might not be the gun board but your monitor. Try a sync cleaner circuit like the LM1881.
Also make sure the C. Sync wires from connector J22-pin1 and J4-pin4 are connected together before it goes to the monitor.

I’m going to give that a shot. My other light gun games work fine though. The seller I got the pcb from also said that they had issues with the gun registering as “invalid”. But they didn’t have everything connected. The joint pcb wires were disconnected. Also I’m using a Namco RGB to NTSC converter. It works great with Time Crisis 2 and 3, plus, the deluxe versions of time Crisis 1 used the same video converter.

Ok, I managed to fix it. Turns out my Namco converter does work. I was using a custom RGB to ypbpr component video converter that I have built to play my light gun games on my crt. That converter works extremely well for Time Crisis 2 and 3 but I’m guessing the converter messes with the sync in Time Crisis 1. I hooked up my good old s video converter and it worked. It’s just that I have to play really close to my tv so the gun can register. I think it’s time for a new optical gun sensor.
Edit: game and light gun work perfectly fine now! I took some time to clean my Namco light gun and calibrate the gun and works perfectly fine.

Glad you got it working. Your converter probably needs the video amp board. If you check the Time Crisis manual for the 50inch monitor, the wiring diagram has the video going to a video amp board -> RGB/NTSC board -> monitor.

The other manuals for Time Crisis SD version doesn't use a RGB/NTSC converter, but a 29inch RGB arcade monitor.

My converter is the newer revision with the video amp integrated. Works like a charm. They are getting expensive as well. I know that there are two versions Namco released. The original one which is much smaller but has the video amp separated and the one I got. Thank you for your help and I’m still planning on getting that hdd from you.

Yes I can help, the pin out is in the deluxe time crisis manual as well. I found it and took a screenshot just in case. Not sure if the if you have the video RGB amp pcb, but it has the pin out for both.

Never mind, looks like you have the same RGB pcb as me, here are the pinouts for that newer revision pcb
Pin 1-8
1-R
3-G
5-B
7-SYNC
8-VIDEO GROUND

from the picture you have provided, your S-Video cable looks damaged, use a different cable and make sure your tv is NTSC. Using this NTSC converter on a PAL tv can cause a grey image but that doesn’t seem to be the issue because the screen would be out of sync.

My Ledtv is Ntsc ,and tye converter had become pal or black and white all of the sudden when using this converter , plus I already change the s-video cable still same issue.

Your converter looks fine, the pal switch isn’t jumped, try the pin outs I gave you. That should fix it. Clean the s video port as well, looks corroded.

The picture I provided should have the pin out for the power as well. Here are the pin outs written out:
JP3 1-6
1-R
3-G
5-B

JP4 1-7
1-SYNC
2-GROUND
3-12 VOLTS

now, I’m not sure if it needs the video amp to function properly, I haven’t personally had one of these boards in my possession yet. The new version has the video amp intergraded. This one doesn’t.
