That's a pretty steep price for what it is in my opinion, but I guess someone bit since it says sold.

The listing is a bit misleading since it has nothing to do with GD-ROMs. It's not a built-in GD-ROM. It's a NAND unit and as far as I know those can't netboot, making it less desirable. I think you need to swap out with a DIMM media board to get netbooting. You'd be stuck with the inferior MKGP1 without some investment to change either to a MKGP2 NAND cartridge or a DIMM media board.

The netbootable Type 3 to aim for is one that specifically has a GD-ROM port, and these can be had way cheaper with diligent Yahoo Auctions Japan searching and bidding.
 
Correct. MK1 and 2 setups cannot netboot. The NAND cart images were modified to work with the media board versions. You would need a Sega media board rather than the Namco version.
