Running into an issue with my MS-2934 tube here. It appears that the left side of the monitor is being magnetized or something. You can see in the picture the monitor menu is blue but should be green. The life bars on the left are purplish but should be a blueish color. Here's a list of things I've tried
  • Multiple proven working chassis
  • Degaussing from the control panel
  • Degaussing from the remote board
  • Using a degauss wand (the ring one) multiple times (Just the front of the tube and around the left side where it was problematic)
  • I've tried adjusting the frame by unbolting pieces and moving thinking maybe it's magnetized or something
So the degauss wand would pull the colors to be good while it was on but the moment it was turned off it would immediately go back this issue. This monitor was shipped so wondering if it was potentially damaged during shipment since I got a video of it working great before the shipment. Not really sure what to do here, I've seen a few posts of this issue but doesn't appear anyone has fixed it. Would magnetic strips around the yoke potentially be an option if degaussing doesn't work? Thanks for looking!

This is odd to me, because the chassis does not auto degauss. So as long you don't move the monitor, it should stay the same.

You can try moving the purity rings around the neck. Look up a Youtube video on how adjust dynamic convergence.

I've personally never seen a shadow mask knocked out of alignment, but it can happen if the tube is dropped. Let's hope that is not the case.

Could be caused by anything metallic near by, such as a speaker magnet.

What happens if you turn the monitor 90 degrees? It shouldn't make a difference but if it does there might be a strong magnetic field in the vicinity.

I should clarify, when moving the degauss ring with the ring powered on we could kinda maneuver it so the colors would be closer to what it should be. However, the moment we turn off the degauss ring or pulled the ring so far away the purple hue would come back. The monitor was on the entire time we tried the degaussing wand.

I'll have to research how to adjust the rings but talking with a buddy of mine he also was worried the shadow mask might have been knocked loose or something.

Nah nothing magnetic around, I had this monitor in a few different places but always same discoloration in the same spot.

Man I can't catch a break with my blast cities, I had my chassis in repair for like a year and my spare monitor got a leak in the neck tube. And getting the feeling this one may be fucked too :( don't think I'll ever get a monitor shipped again

Also just a disclaimer, don't plug in eBay chassis into a tube. I think they may have fried my spare tube.

Your yoke might have come loose which would throw off purity and convergence. Make sure it's pushed all the way up to the rubber stoppers, and the clamp is tightened firmly (but not too tight, clamping on to glass after all)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the shadowmask was damaged. This happened to me last year when I rolled the dice on getting a monitor shipped to me; unfortunately, despite the seller going to the effort of crating it, the monitor wasn't secured to the crate in any way, and when it got to me, the chassis had exploded into many pieces, so it clearly got knocked around. Made sure the yoke, etc. were all good and everything was seated correctly, hooked up a known working chassis, got a result almost identical to OP's photos. Convergence strips, rotating the yoke, degaussing wand, nothing worked. Ended up pulling the yoke and junking the tube.

Hope it's not a damaged shadowmask, but based on my experience... wishing you the best. Let us know!

I'll see if I can adjust the yoke and potentially swap out for another.

Guess on the bright side I'll get to learn how to do a yoke swap, I'll report back with what I find out this weekend... If I don't get zapped lol
