WTB Turtles in Time

Want To Buy
You know it helps if you state what you are willing to pay.
In a WTB thread sellers are not going to approach you with a reasonable offer.

To be honest I have not seen this one in a long time maybe 500-600 USD but i'm willing to negotiate

I had a TiT, but I sold it in 2018 for 450$.
Honestly the port on SNES is very good (not perfect but good)...
Unlike the first TMNT (still own it) that has NO good conversion on any system (that NES abomination don't count for shit).

I had the chance to buy TiT or the first TMNT arcade game some years ago, guess which one i bought. I had no idea TiT was so hard to find

I guess (conversion) kits for the game were rare (Konami did make them just in lower numbers).
If that's true... The majority of bare PCBs you see floating around came from gutted/destroyed CABS (this would help explain the price/availability).

Both of the TMNT arcade games were great. They packed in plenty of action and they are both fun and enjoyable. Whichever board you have in your cabinet will do the job.

While I agree that the NES port of the first TMNT wasn’t the greatest, it was pretty good in so far as capturing the essence of the arcade game. The NES arcade port programmers worked with what they had. They knew the limitations of the hardware and so they gave the “NES-spin” to make up for the obvious shortcomings; such as adding extra levels, extra options, etc.

Now the SNES TMNT 2 was excellent. I agree, way better and way closer. It really did a good job of giving you the full experience. And the Genesis TMNT game (loosely based on the arcade games) also deserves praise for being arcade like.

Essence? I guess...
My biggest problem with the NES wanabe is inaccuracy for no describable reason.

Funny, I don't remember this stage in the arcade...
Oh right, thats because its NOT in the arcade version! Wait? So its a feature/enhancement to be inaccurate to the source material?
No, fuck you Konami.

NOTHING about this level fits in with the over all theme of the game.
Now Shredder has made a weather machine and its winter? Jesus Christ!
Even as a child I knew this was retarded.

If you can't do something right, don't!
Killing your reputation isn't worth the bump in cash flow deceiving kids who just want to play the arcade game at home.
Its how a once great company like Konami ends up making Pachinko machines, and long time fans of said work end up writing a forum post with the words "fuck you" contained within.

BTW, can you guess my issues with TiT on SNES?

I can tell that you feel very passionate about the Turtles: way much more so then myself! Admittedly, I never read a comic book, never saw a cartoon, never saw a movie, etc. I merely saw and enjoyed playing what was for me a great action arcade game. So arcade accuracy and/or liberties taken would not have bothered me as much. For me I saw an awesome extra bonus snow winter stage and a really cool SNES mode 7 Shredder battle. That’s what I saw and I enjoyed it for what it was.

We grew up during the era when the arcades were always on the leading edge and the home consoles were always weak underpowered outdated technology lagging behind. Arcade perfect ports were literally impossible but somewhat accurate arcade translations were at least doable. But let’s be fair, Konami and Capcom were hands down and without question the best of the best from that era.

Konami’s NES Rush & Attack and Contra were actually BETTER then there arcade counterparts! And Konami’s SNES Gradius 3 and Capcom’s Final Fight and U.N. Squadron were EXCELLENT ports. Etc.

Yes, there was tons of garbage out there and many failed attempts that should have never even been done. And yes, the graphically limited 1983 Famicom/NES hardware just can’t handle the 1989 TMNT arcade game. But it was pretty good and pretty much all we had at the time. And again, I personally feel that the SNES TMNT and Genesis/Mega Drive TMNT were excellent games. And that may very well be my opinion which others don’t share. But they were top selling games that flew off the shelves so surely most of the people at the time liked them too.

Heh I knew this would come up, because it always dose when the issue of inaccurate ports is raised.
Yes Contra is #1 ANTI example of this (because its awesome/better than the old clunky arcade version).
Can you guess what I consider #2? Soul Caliber on Dreamcast!

Snow Bros and Battletoads on NES > Arcade versions.
I have no idea about SB (need to check out the NES version now!), but you're crazy on Battletoads! I love the NES one, but the arcade is actually easier, more fair, and looks a million times better!

No, pretty much everyone agrees with you! LOL, @jassin000 just has very specific tastes!

No way in hell is Battletoads Arcade any way better than the NES version. Why? Pause Music.

Snow Bros is a hoot. I love the music and slot machine game between levels. Let me know what you think.

Shit, you have a very strong point about the pause music. I think I saw recently somewhere where they fucked up that specific music in the Japanese (or maybe it was European) one! WTF!
