Hi everyone,

After several years away, I’ve finally made my return to the arcade scene and I couldn’t be happier to be back. Life’s thrown its share of distractions and priorities, but I’ve recently been looking for a hands-on project, and one practically landed in my lap: a Taito Vewlix Diamond Black/Orange.

I was lucky enough to find it locally for a great price. It had no I/O and was previously configured for console use, but overall it was a solid base. Once I got it home, I stripped it down completely and gave everything a thorough cleaning. The cabinet cleaned up much better than expected, and I have to say, it’s been a real joy bringing it back to life.

There were a few things that needed attention, the sound board has a bulging capacitor (a replacement is on the way), and the 1/8" input jack looks like it was manually soldered on at some point. Not original, but manageable.

Once reassembled, I was especially impressed by the 1080p monitor, much better image quality than I expected, so I don’t see a need to upgrade it anytime soon. The stock speakers also sound surprisingly good.

That said, I’m currently missing the control panel harness wiring. I’ve ordered a Fast I/O and a Type X3, and now I’m brushing up on everything I’ve forgotten. It’s been a while, so any wiring tips, resources, or advice from those more experienced would be appreciated.

It’s good to be back in this community again. I might’ve preferred the black version of the Diamond over the orange trim, but this one really did clean up nicely and finding one nearby at a great price was too good to pass up.

Looking forward to catching up on what I’ve missed and reconnecting with the community. Thanks in advance for any input.

Best,
